What we have here is a DR-60 with a 250 hps on a econo wing reflector fired by a lumatek ballast. The tent is cooled with a ecotec 265 blower on the exhaust and is pulling air through a 4 in duct hooked up to the a/c system in the house. The tent runs 75 deg day and 67 deg night, humidity is at 40% day and 50% night. The one on the left is Grape Ape and on the right is a Kushwreck. Both are in the 11 day of flower and were vegged for 5 days short of 2 months. The burn marks on 3 of the tops on the grape ape are from bumping the bulb when pulling her out of her old homemade tent.

Welcome to the club buddy and good luck with your grow, I'd line the corners of that shit with some T5's and you'd get a better yield having the extra lumens bouncing around but I'm curious to see what you get with that 250 in there...

hey migrainessucks I have the same setup as u do, as far as the dr60, and the 250w econowing. My question to u is were u using the 250w from seedlings and what was the distance between the top of plant and the light. I haven't started my grow yet, still need to get soil and some fans. Another thing do u use an extraction fan and carbon filter.

Go spend $25-$30 on the Hydro Farm Jumpstart setup with a 2ft T5 with reflector and stand to hang from above your cuttings/seedlings you don't want to put them under HID lighting that little...

Thanks thundurkel I appreciate the advice, do u think it would fit inside my dr60 or should I just get the t5 high output light. First grow but I did a lot of reading and think I am ready to get started. You seem like someone who has a ton of knowledge, can I look to you if I come across any problems or need advice.

Ok so putting the 125 watt CFL in the tent along with the 250 hps made it way to hot. I did start the seedlings under the 125 CFL and kept them under for 10 days after that 250 MH.
Now I think the Grape Ape might be going hermy. Still about a day or two before I can be sure ( a day or two before I cry ). I'll try to get a picture today if the worry spot is big enough to shoot. Also checked for light leaks none. Sidenote dont piss the person off that is zipping you in your tent. But this was the chance I took when using bag seed. I didn't want to run real beans or clones through the tent until i had the bugs worked out.

yea no worries but I suggest you take my advice and compare what I do to 3 other people and get a average idea of what needs to be done cuz it's different in every room...

Why do you think it went hermi from it getting too hot? I've never heard of Urkle or Grape Ape turning hermi that early. And I meant to get T5 strips like 2ft or 4ft and line the corners and you'd have some serious amount of lumens packed in the DR60 as much as a 400 if you ran 4 54w T5s one in each corner you'd have 50,000 lumens which is what my 400w Plantmax Super HPS...

Not because of the heat. I didn't let it go past 81 Deg. But all of the flowers are starting to show a really small bump here and there and at 30x mag it was hard to see the shape. They could be a pollen sack but it is starting to look a little more pear shaped this morning. This is my first grow and what can I say i'm just a little noided. For all I know this could be some of the first real large calyx starting to form. So far all of the buds calyx are very small ( a little bigger than a pin head ) and the bumps forming are bigger than the calyx. And the T5s sound like a great idea just want to see how the 125 CFL would do. I need to work out some cooling issues before I go buy the T5s. I have a 1/10 HP water chiller that I am thinking about using with a fresca sol refector. Just need to save up for it.

I have a DR80 with a 400 watt digital hps, cool tube, 4 inch inline fan with a carbon scrubber. No plants, no seeds, no soil, etc etc. But I am thinking of going hydro and think I am going to build a flood and drain out of rubbermaids. Has anyone done this?
Also, where could I get a nice small veg/mother room that I could easily attach to the DR80 to ventilate the veg/flower room as well?

Get the GrowLab CloneLab or if you want to be a lil cheaper like me and don't need the shelves you can get one from HTG Supply on ebay called "The Mother Keeper" pictured here...
I'd suggest getting 2 of these to put in it also.

hey thundurkel i have decided to use cfls on my seedlings and was wondering how many watts i should use in my dr60. and if anyone else has any input or advice feel free to do so, really want to start my grow before the middle of the month.

It'll be here in 2 days or so.
Ordered a 250W CMH from abroad, gonna take a good 2 weeks I'm guessing. Gives me plenty of time to prep up the chamber before dropping in the bulb and starting the grow.
I'll post a link when the thread is up.

ps: to answer your question Thasmoothone, manufacturer recommends 150w. However you can go up to 250W if you provide necessary ventilation (or cooltube). Also, CMH bulbs throw way less heat at the plants, but you will still need to provide good ventilation near the bulbs (if u intend on using them, that is).
