What bug is this?

Can anyone identify this bug and possibly clue me in on how to get rid of them? They seemed to have appeared overnight and my poor crop is beginning to show signs of abuse.

Please note the strange patterns left on the top side of the leaves. Black spots and faded marks? WTF is this thing? I've grown in this same sort of set up for years and all of a sudden these things appear. ...

They seem to only be attracted to my indica and only on the lower leaves. I have a sativa right next to it that is not experiencing the same type of infestation. I can't seem to find any pictures of what these things are. Some of the are white and some of them are a light green ranging from half a cm to 3 cm long. It would appear that they can fly and jump also.

I need to get rid of these things! Please help!!

looks like a thrip

pyretrum combined with a little neem can do the trick...but there's more products out there.

Bud Bug

Hard to say but from the looks of the stippling on the leave those could be mites or you could also have mites on top of the therips. Is the damage little white dots or more square/silver looking spots on top of the leaf.

Also does the bug move fast/jump? Thrips are quite fast compare to spider mites.

Just re read your post and if they jump/move really fast then they are thrips.

They seem to jump and move somewhat quickly but they will just sit on the underside of the leaf until there is a sudden movement. Does that help narrow it down any?

Do they look like a small grain of rice? Whats the damage spots look like? Is it tons of tiny white pin pricks or larger square/rectangual spots?

It's kind of hard to explain the damage. If you look at the pictures at the leaves in the background, that is what the damage looks like. Black spots and faded parts of the leaf look like a layer has been stripped off.

Yeah, they look like tiny rice bugs but with super long legs. I'm going to hit my local hydro store to see what they have on hand. ..

What a drag? . ..

either way... it's not going to be good so get some insecticide from home depot or something and kill those suckers dead!

Does this look like it might work? It contains Pyrethins. ... I can't see anything that has spinosad openly available at any of the home improvement stores around me. If I can use it on vegetables, I should be able too use it on cannabis right?

They also have insecticidal soap. .. ...

Insecticidal Soap

Insecticidal soaps control insect pests on vegetables, houseplants, ornamentals and fruit/nut trees. They are effective against adult, larvae and nymph stages of pests. The active ingredient is potassium soap of fatty acids.

So I went out and got the Natria stuff from Bayer. I've already lightly misted both my plants from the bottom side up trying not to hit the buds. My light cycle is off right now until later in the PM so I used my headlamp to get a good view. I don't believe the 10 minutes or so of light from a LED head light is going to do much by way of ruining a light cycle.

I got the insecticidal soap and the insect killer joint. They both say you can use them on vegetables and flowers so I figure I should be alright. They are both organic too so I'm crossing my fingers that I don't check back on them when the light comes on to a horrific scene of dead plants. I'm about halfway through flower right now and the buds are just beginning to pick up weight, so that would be a bummer.

I sprayed some directly on to one of the leaves I posted a picture of, those buggers were in the same exact place I left them last night! It was kind of trippy, they were just standing there, I gave them a light spray and they didn't move so I'm like, WTF? Then I touch it with a glove and it just moves from my touch. ... Either it was playing dead or it died on contact. .. For organic that would be pretty wild. ..

I figure if I still see some in a couple of days I will go ahead and try the insect, mite and disease control product with the pyrethin. /shrug I'll let you guys know if this stuff is any good once the light comes on.

On another note, how liberal are you guys with spraying this kind of stuff? I just kind of lightly misted everything from the bottom up to hit the underside of the fan leaves.

Oh and FYI, I just did a little research and the two sprays I got are essentially the same thing save for the fact that the insect, mite an disease controll product contains some synthetics. Probably the pyrethin stuff, the soap is primarily potassium fatty acids.

They are brand new products that just launched last month, that's why there isn't much information out there about them.
