my babies are about 3 weeks old now from seed, im using Miracle Gro potting soil with released nutrients or w/e and reg miracle gro all purpose nitrogen high plant food, i also use superthrive. i was thinking about going to my grow store and picking up foxfarm soil + veg/bloom nutrients and such but, my funds are low atm; darn economy! Would anyone shed some light on my first grow? i want to know what i can give them or even make out of perlite or other things for them they can live in and feed from. im not gonna use miracle gro forever. lol.
thanks!:ying:

miracle grow with time release a no no

also superthrive a no no

you need to start over right.. do FFOF for your first grow, then switch to some other soils as FFOF will grow your plants no problem then switch to something like bio-terra or bio bizz soils

Ya Miracle Grow will do more harm than good. You might just want to PH balance your water from here on out and give it pure water if you can't afford to purchase new nutes. Fox Farm makes a good 3 part mix.

For your next run mix Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil with Roots Organic (50/50), add several large scoops (depending on the size of your pot) of Big and Chunky Perlite, and some handfuls of worm castings to the mix. Do yourself a favor and buy a reverse osmosis filter and a huge bucket for water.

With a high quality soil mix and PH balanced filtered water you will double the size and quality of this run.

hey man, keep your plant alive, feed plain water, then transplant into a less "miracle grow" substrate. grab some botanicare, bloom is all you need, but you should get some good soil or soil mix, and fox farms oceans forrest is a good one, or roots organics, or black gold, all have great stuff in them.

keep reading there are some extremely helpful people here, and some very informing posts.

Hey man....let me save you some money. You could instead head down to Lowes and get some good organic potting soil with a zero base nutrient profile...

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=3149605&postcount=59

That bag of soil is 40lbs or 1 cubic foot or about 6.5g.

Then buy a bag of perlite (yeah, I know MG is the only kind they stock...gotta love it) So grab a bag of perlite, and then get some Miracle Grow (yep) organic blood and bone meal. So far you have spent about $20.

You still need to take a quick trip to the hydro store and get (you could buy perlite here) a bag of kelp meal, some earth worm castings (EWC), and some dolomite lime. Don't get the Epsoma granulated type...they'll probably have it from a company called Sunleaves, under the product label "soil sweetener". Avoid using hydrated types of "garden lime". Anyway...this trip to the hydro store will set you back another $30 or so.

1 bag soil (roughly 6.5g)
1 bag perlite (roughly 3g)
2g EWC
1c of dolomite lime
1/2c of kelp
1/2c of blood
1c of bone

Let the mix sit for two weeks to compost / stirring a bit and then use. Should give you about enough for 10 1g pots. Just add water through the life cycle with a bit of a p/k boost in week 4 that can be done via guano top feed or teas.

All in all you can produce WAY more soil this way for a much cheaper cost than you could if you were buying FFOF and then still having to feed the soil with other expensive nutrients.

I will also say that I do not currently use that mix as posted. I use a blend of peat/coir/soil these days....

this may appear crazy but look at it, you'll get good ideas, ask if you need to know about products, better to give to much info than to little.
reason i use dynagro for main fertilzer is because it's super concentrated and there for less salt build up or nut lock out.
I would cut all these recommendations in half as they are manufactures rec's and not intended for this many nuts in combo.

Hey Chloro87, I've been using the AN Sensi 2 part for about 5 years now with great results. Just follow the bottles recommendations and you'll do fine. I supplement with Carbo Load, Big Bud, and Overdrive.

Good luck finding new nutes, I'm sure your plants will respond much better than to the miracle grow.
