Security Certificate error using https on IC

Just thought I'd pass on that when I go to the main forum page through https, IE8 pops up a "Security Certificate error" and says it is blocking the content. The page comes up fine otherwise and the notification only appears on the main forum page. Sounds like IC's https certificate has expired.

Skip,
I do not have a problem with this personally. I'm writing because I noticed an error message a couple of weeks ago and since the topic came up in this thread. Depending on what your security levels are at and other variables I have been able to replicate the error message once I cleared my Approvals and Installed certs. and altered other settings. I also cleared cache, temp files etc..

I found no errors going to https://www.icmag.com/ or some other parts of the web site but when I entered the site or went for the first time to https://www.icmag.com/ic/ I got cert. errors / name match problems. I did not test many other pages for the problem.

I do have an odd combination of operating systems and browser versions. But the certificate name error happened on Opera a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I just approved it and have not had a message since. IE will also show the error but probably few people use as old a version as I do. My Opera version is fairly current.

I did not get any error messages on Minefield and FF running Linux or MS versions.

Opera used:
Ver.:10.51
B...: 3312
on 2003 server and 2000 pro

IE was old, probably ver. 6. Last one to run well on 2000 pro.

Yes the cert was renewed a couple of months ago. There were errors at that time.

Ah, I was finally able to replicate and fix the problem! In IE 6.0 it came up and I saw that there was one forum icon coming from https://icmag.com, instead of https://www.icmag.com. So the only pages yielding errors had that icon on it. Now the error no longer shows.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes! :0)

man these new security programs are relentless!

Thanks Gomer for your feedback and noticing the problem. We have been having problems getting the new version setup right with ssl. But it's getting better!

Many of icmag's pages are now secure. In fact, most except for those with videos and other content coming from other sites. :)

To stop the warning messages popping up on those pages you should tell your browser to allow mixed content (meaning secure & non-secure). Then you won't get warnings.
