Hi everyone!
I have this great field I can use to grow a couple of super stealthy urban girls. Trouble is, the light in that field is split almost 50/50 with one side catching all the sun from sunrise tilll about 2pm, and the other side catching full rays from about noon till it's dark.
What side would you put them on and why?

Depends, but if you have a strain with a nice leaf to caylx ratio (tight buds) you can have mold problems if you dont get enough early sun.

Even though I voted for bacon, I agree with hamstgring. Morning sun dries out your buds at the most critical point of the day in the late season. Go for the AM side for sure.

i prefer early morning, i mean think about it on a summer day is it alot cooler in the morning tthen afternoon? not that the herb stalk cant take the heat just my observation and plants seem more vibrant to me in the am

Either is fine, just be careful when doing your flower cycles, because if the sun goes down early on them the plants will respond like the photoperiod is supposed to end. I usually pull them in the sunlight early and try to get as much as I can through the light cycle. So out of 12 hours of light I'll get between 4-10 of actual sunlight, the rest is flourescents.

I voted PM cause girls should get a bit more light, brighter light. Bacon is wrong for many reasons, I believe and a bad attitude is never the answer to any problem.

Me, I'd put them on the sunrise to 2pm side. Morning sun dries out condensation on plants from the night before. And in my countless years of experience of growing outdoor, I find plants respond better to early light hrs like sunrise to noon rather than noon to sunset.

Even though it's been said several times in the thread, morning sun is better to help prevent mold. Over here, if I let plants catch the sun at noon, they get fried, it is too hot, too brutal of a change from shade to sun.

I am a farmboy living in a pretty narrow valley. I live on the side that gets evening sun until 11 o'clock at night midsummer.

On the other side they get the morning sun. And on that side the spring starts 2 weeks earlier.

This is not bullshit. The trees starts sprouting and plants starts their lives earlier over there on the shadowside. This I have observeded myself, and also it is general knowlegde amongst the farmers in town.

I'd rather live on my side though, because on those long summer nights we barbeque and party and stuff in the sun. We look over on those poor souls on the "shadowside" and think that we are soooo lucky and sooooo much better off. which we are ofcourse.

Because off stealth issues I have always had my plants on my side, but this year I might put some plants on "the other side", just to see if there is any difference.

peace

Thanks for all the great posts guys!

L~B I really have to agree with where it says growing is like playing guitar under your post.
