...or anywhere else in India..Just had to write it as it makes a rime.

Any way,has anybody drunk Bhang Lassi in India??
Is it really so ass kicking?Have seen on Youtube a guy offering Bhang lassi in different strengths. The strongest was "24 hour,no toilet,no shower"!
We as kids have made something similar from industrial hemp as it was all over tha place and it usually was quite strong..
Cheers!

Hi Sungazer,

Yep, for one, I've drunk many bhang lassis in Varanasi. There used to be a bhang shop at a big roundabout on the street leading to Main ghat (Dashashwamedha Ghat, I had to look it up in google.. ;) .) I bet it's still there, as the main customers were Indian, rickshaw drivers getting ready for their hard day and such, or even office people, by the look of some customers. At the time, they served it in disposable clay cups, that you'd thow in a corner of the room to break them when you had finished.

And yep, it's reeeeeally powerful. A "strong" one in the morning and I didn't even consider smoking anything until the evening, well I suppose I still did for the sake of it, but you know what I mean. Shit when I think about it, I was so high all the time that I don't remember much about Varanasi... lol

Now when you see the guy preparing it, it's not really surprising as he really takes a shitload of Bhang, which would be just pounded herb, probably leaves and buds, to mix in the yoghurt. Surprisingly, the taste is not unpleasant at all.

Hey Hanuman...Nice post..it also brings the question why to smoke over there when you can sip bhang lassi:D
As i have said we have prepared ganja in drinkable form and i remember that some have been pretty much terminated by it...
And all that from industrial hemp which is very low in THC..I can imagine what a !!BHANG!! in ones head is produced by weed whit decent amount of resin on it..:D
Cheers!

Also, to illustrate how strong it was, I remember flying from Benares (oops sorry Varanasi) to Katmandu and even though, as always with airports and such, a lot of waiting was involved, it seemed that barely half an hour had passed between the time I left the bhang shop (had to ask the taxi driver to stop there on the way to the airport) and the moment I was out of Katmandu airport, surrounded by the usual crowd of taxi drivers and hotel touts ;)

I read in another thread that you plan to go to Nepal. Although there are no government bhang shops there as far as I know, the whole country drinks bhang lassi legally on the day & night of the Shivaratri festival. Maybe a good time to visit the country :) Don't know the date... but google does.... haha too bad, feb 12 2010... maybe next year then ;)

Ouuu,Nepal is whole different story.Wanna puff there.Well, hmm, wanna puff in India also to tell ya tha truth:D
But these Bhang Lassis are kind of practical. You said it!You had to catch tha flight-more practical to bhang the lassi than to search for privacy that you need to light up a chillum or J...
Peeps are telling me that in Nepal you can find a shitloads of good characs almost for free when compared to prices in,lest say,Dam.Tola of charas in Nepal-10$
G of temple balls in De Gral(De Pijp,Amsterdam)-11E

Oh man. I had a 'Happy Lassi' in Pushkar. You would not believe the amount of tandoori I ate, I was so buzzed out. Those things are genuinely potent. I ordered it at a vendor, he cycled off whilst he left his mother who stood there smiling at us for a good 20 minutes. But he had certainly been preparing a stonker all that time!

This is something I'm very curious about and would like to try making sometime.

I'm already making a variation on bhang (I just call it milk or cannamilk) which is pretty much just non-homogenized whole milk + whatever materials I got + a little bit of lecithin emulsifier + heat + pressure + time.

I'm really curious as to what actual bhang is made of and tastes like--the stuff I make tastes pretty terrible but it gets the job done without having to a) smoke or b) eat baked sweets. I usually just pinch my nose and follow with and OJ chaser. I have friends that have become accustomed to the flavor and don't mind--even enjoy it.

Anybody know how they actually make the stuff? Recipes? Proportions? List of ingredients?
