hey guys, judging from this pic, how high do u think I should run my TDS in my res?? Im using 100% RO water, they are at 500ish ppm right now, but I think thats too low. any ideas?? some of the leaf tippy tips are curled/burnt and the leaves appear to be losing some of their green. :( gotta plan the next move right! thanks alot! sorry for so many posts, just trying to get some quick answers while Im able to use the comp!

thanks!!! :)

You must be 15 ish don't look 5 or 6 inch:)

Try Cannabis Infirmary

Maybe ph problem 5.8 6 is ok. 500-600 is ok don't go higher yet. what is your lighting, temp, humidity, nutrients? the lot.

You did get a lot of good info from your last thread maybe to much for a newbe.

you must keep any eye on ph daily min 5.1 max 6.2

if hydroton don't work 4you try Coco next grow good shit not that brick shit

Don't get Epsom salt just use cal-max or cal-mag same shit i use it at 1ml per L or 4ml per Gal

As for ppm you can push them don't go higher than 2.4 or 1700ppm be careful with ph down just 4-5 drops at a time, u don't need ph up just add more RO water

I dont get it. most ppl say you only have to PH down with every water change...howcome mine isnt staying put?? do I have to buffer it somehow? please help guys! I dont wanna be adding it in every day, right?!? lol.

did you rinse all that hydroton, just keep adjusting the ph till it stops, are you sure your pen is calibrated. PPM should be up around 1200, yours is way too low.

You'll see more rise the lower your ppms.

it could also be the hydroton is still rinsing. I've always put them in very well rinsed. They go through my cleaning process right out of the bag before they go in the system. So, I've never seen what effect that would have. I don't know the chemical composition of the clay dust but if I had to guess I'd say it was something alkaline.

Your nutes contain buffers. Actually your up and down solution are essentially buffers. That's why the lower the nute concentration, the more change in your pH. The buffer species are all converted to one side or the other. There aren't enough of them to balance out the solution.

Don't be afraid of ppms so much. I understand the hesitation to raise ppms as a dude coming from soil but you're in an E&F system which is really forgiving. Keep bumping your ppms until you see the leaf tips burn then back off. Maybe 100 ppm bumps for a couple days. After a couple runs you can have a regimen pretty well dialed in if you keep notes and make even finer adjustments each run. But you can also just run around 1200 or so the whole run. Many, many phenos will thrive on this regimen in an E&F. Some might die at that (few). Hence, do what the plants tell you.

And ditch that pH pen. Just get some drops. They're more accurate although not as precise. But your target pH is a swing through a range so you don't need to be that precise but you do need it to be accurate. Those pens go bad eventually. Every single one of them will start reading funny on you at some point. So you end up checking with drops to make sure your pen is accurate. Then you realize your drops are giving you the precision you need and the pen is unnecessary.

thanks alot super, Im gonna try to raise the PPMs up alittle at a time. I did wash the hydroton really well, but there was some residue left over, its all cleared now.

Good advice superultramega k+ 1200ppm is spot on for my snow white they love it.

Don't blame your self TicalionStalion some strains are just a pain in the ass to grow in Hydro you do need to do your research sometimes to find a strain that is suited to your setup and needs.

My Eutech PH pen is just as good as when i brought it 4 years ago.
