Hello Urkle, thanks for the club.

Soon I'll be starting flowering in a DR80.
The only light I have is a 600w. This is on the high side of my usual light/space ratio. It seems like a 400w would be more comfortable in this space, but more is almost always better. It'll be in my perpetually cool completely underground basement and I have good air flow. How have people's temps been with 600w in a DR80?
I'll also be trying all Smart Pots. I'll add pics as soon as the tent gets here next week.

I'd say if you have a 6" inline fan to cool it with you will be fine! Just make SURE you have a glass sealed hood. I recommend the Hydrofarm Daystar A/C or Radiant A/C since they are better than the competitors from what I've heard and read...

I run a DR 120 with a 600w... and i wish i woulda gone with a 1kw light... so yeah.. with a 150 400w is def not enough.

Okay. Am now thinking of upgrading to a 1000W Hortilux Blue!
Will this meet my requirements?
Will I need a lightmover or should the footprint be big enough for the space?
Any recomendations on a different 1000 W MH bulb thats a bit cheaper but a great value?
The hortilux is pricey!

beg to differr. ran 2 4by 8 trays one with 2 radiant ac hoods the other with 2 yield master (sun systems) hoods. the sun systems have far better distrubtion than the radiants, not to mention I had one of the radiants crack on the metal due to cheaper construction. It was less than a year old, and my sun sysem hoods which are almost three times that old, and have been moved numerous times and have never had a problem. I explained this to hydrofarm and they promised me a new hood because it was still under warrenty. still waiting.... best hood out there- super sun 1. better than any hoods ive ever seen. BEST light distribution ive seen period.

These are my experinces-Individual results may very.
dont believe me? try it.

Couldn't wait on shipping so my Daystar A/C is fine for my setup and another one next to it and a GL80L is going to be REAL nice! I was going to go with the Super Sun 2 since it's the same design and a/c and I don't want to have to use a kit since I hear they don't seal well..

Have you ran or know anybody that's ran Daystar A/C's next to the Sun System hoods?

Also with the Yieldmaster 2 I don't like how it drops off on the sides instead of being angled I shit you not my Daystar (though I only have experience with something like the Super Sun1 but a knock off version still very similar in shape) is PERFECT in my DR80 the corners are just as bright as the middle! I'm hella excited to really see what HID lighting will do for me cuz I'm still pulling nicer shit outta my CFL cab but I blame that on heat stress from a shitty hood and dickin around with different nutrients everytime instead of using something I KNOW works like Flora Nova and the KISS system or House and Garden which I'm LOVING by the way and so are my plants all the lil deficiencies are going away and greening up real nice. Between that and the new hood able to be 2x as close I got a damn good growing coming along and can't WAIT to flower them. Finally have the patience to veg them out till they are big enough and I'm shooting for 2 zips a plant this round..

Hey Thundurkel, do you still think the cfls give a better smoke than hps or hid? Maybe you already said but I did not catch it.

The Goblin filter is PERFECT for the DR80 and its only 20 pounds, I have one with a 6'' inline hooked directly to it hanging inside of my tent. There is also a 4'' Elf also from hydorhut that would work great with a 4'' inline.

The setup is supr cean with either of these two set ups

they advertise that these can hold 100lbs. does anyone know if thats true? Maybe someone can try suspendin their kid in one? ...just for a second of course.

For me, the strength of the tent is not the issue. The problem is the straps used to attach the filter. They are strong, but they are difficult to get on and they become loose and open when they have a lot of weight on them. Maybe I'm attaching them incorrectly.

Sounds like you are attaching them incorrectly.
The thick black straps?

I just attached mine to the poles that support the ceiling. They are thick, strong, and I don't think will come loose. I'll have to check that though!

The tent states it "CAN" hold up to 100 pounds, Im not going close to testing the wieght limits of my tent.

100lbs? not sure about that, for the simple reason there is ZERO cross bars for support in the DR80. As it stands its only 4 legs and 2 square caps top/bottom basically. Ive probably got about 50lbs hanging from it (Golbin Filter>6'' Fan>Duct>Cooltube>Duct). Not sure Ill put much more on the top supports. maybe one more 6'' or 8'' fan blowing straight down but that would be THE limit for me.

I beg to differ on this.. My DR80 came with 3 cross bars for the roof I have one down the middle front to back and two side to side I weigh 145lbs and now DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!! BUT! I just did a pull up on a cross bar so I know it can hold 100lbs plus I have my hood on the bar I hung from! This probably has to do with me having a extra cross bar which was a mistake like if you look at your directions I have 2 "E" bars and 1 "D" bar...

Thunder

I dont think that was a mistake, I gothe same thing, and the directions didnt show the extra bar either. Must be a quick added upgrade.

Sorry for the confusion!! I shouldve been a bit more specific. What I ment was cross bars horizontal to the ground on the sides to act as braces in the event of potential colaps. Ive seen a couple of DIY's That add a slider on each pole and conect them with an additional cross member against the walls.

With my scrubber and fan hung on the left side of my tent and my cooltude in the middle, the tent seems a TAD.... JUST a TAD wobbley for my likeing to go hanging more wieght on there. I may feel a bit different if had even wieght distribution throughout the top but I dont..... So there lays my hesitation.

OH and YOU ARE A BRAVE MAN!!! for doing a pul up in your tent!!! :)

Peace
