Tom McLellan, deputy director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy said- "We have the safest medications in the world and it's not a coincidence. We have an enviable process by which we approve medications, and that's through the (Food and Drug Administration)," he says. "It's a bad idea to approve medication by popular vote."

safest medications??? how many people die a year from over-dose, or even "as perscribed" pills from the big pharma??? is he refering to pot???
im confused..:moon:

Yea, that is messed up. McLellan --who really is the White House's face on drug policy-- seems to be saying that anything the FDA puts their stamp of approval on is automatically "one of the safest medications in the world". I guess Vioxx and Paxil then are safer than cannabis...

Didn't the last administration streamline the FDA drug approval process under pressure from Big Pharma-- Big Pharma argued that approval delay was costing them too much $$.

That is backassward.

"A regulated substance for adults to enjoy responsibly."

That "Regulated" part kind of scares me.I dont want kids to be able to freely get it,but at the same time I dont want it to be "Regulated" to the point where we are not allowed to grow for ourselves.Im worried about all the GREEDY coporate fuckers trying to squeeze the lifesblood out of people.

I hope they pass a law when and if it becomes legalized that each American citizen can only grow a certain amount.Lets say 50 plants a piece or something.I think that would help the common person to be able to find a place in what is the cannabis industry.

Very good article though. Thanks for posting it.Great information.

Once they legalize any amount of plants for non-medical recreational usage the walls of oppression will pretty much fall down overnight.

James Gray once saw himself as a drug warrior, a former federal prosecutor and county judge who sent people to prison for dealing pot and other drug offenses. Gradually, though, he became convinced that the ban on marijuana was making it more accessible to young people, not less.

"I ask kids all the time, and they'll tell you it is easier to get marijuana than a six-pack of beer because that is controlled by the government," he said, noting that drug dealers don't ask for IDs or honor minimum age requirements.

If only all drug warriors could realize this, and just legalize it already.
