The Black Widow Returns

Hello there. Just sprouting some Black Widows by Mr Nice. I received a pack of seeds from Shantibaba and 9/10 have sprouted out of the dirt within three days with no prior soaking. 20 seeds in the pack and the other 10 were placed in damp paper towel in a Dvd case until 7/10 cracked open. These other 10 are now in cups of soil so things are proceeding as well as can be. Would appreciate any feedback for outdoor growing as these should be ready in a few weeks when the weather conditions permit taking outside. I also plan to use a few males for breeding purposes as I would like to make some crosses with other hybrids that I have going. Kind regards.

I keep meaning to get some BW and give it a run, but I'm too involved in too many other projects to really give it the proper attention. Not enough "me" (or space) to go around!

Are these related to the Black Widow from FMS somehow?

Shanti just started calling the White Widow "Black widow" after the split from Green House Seeds to differentiate between the two companies products.

Thanks but I knew that :) But are all the WWs from the same mother originally and then crossed with different strains to improve yield etc? Sorry I'm not very familiar with the history of the Widow.
FMS wrote that their BW was a cut more like the "original" Widow and thus more sativaish. How is this Black Widow in terms of sativaqualities?

Not having grown BW yet, I can't say. The story I'm most familiar with is that when Shanti split, he took his genetics with him. So according to all I've read, his is THE original.

That said, seed companies often replace their clone mothers or fathers for various reasons, and this sometimes leads to differences from earlier releases.

As for Shanti's gear, (or any seed company) that question is best answered by them.

Hello there. Just to update. 14/20 up and looking good so far. Have to say that this is an exciting opportunity for me to grow this strain. Timing seems right as well as the May long weekend Rodeo should give these babies lots of veg time to get started and ready for the outdoors. I would like to breed some female hybrids with the males from this grow to make some seeds as well. I will take some pictures as I am awaiting the few remaining seeds to emerge from the dirt. Thanks to Mr Nice and Shantibaba for the great genetics and customer service his company provides. Kind regards.

Ive grown out Bwidow and greenhouses's widow side by side. They are essentially the same plant except that its clear from watching them that Mr. nice seeds has focused their breeding efforts on the more sativa pheno in the cross and worked it That same pheno exist in the GHouse variety but they havent isolated the sativaish pheno and you get 3 phneo's.

Youll be happy with the results. Its good weed.

Shantibaba still uses both the original parents for his Black Widow. It is still the same as the original White widow. Other companies do there versions but hes the only one with th original parents.

Heh sorry for the takeover-try mate, was just curious :)
Looking forward to see some pictures, with these super babies and I have to agree your timing seems great I hope we will see some big ass bushes!
Do you care/dare to give some more details on your outdoor setup? Will you dig em down or use pots? Etc.
Cheers and good luck!

Hi there. Just to update today achieved 100% germination on the pack of 20 seeds. I am going to give a bunch of these to a growing mentor of mine who likes to grow in pots and have the mobility option that is crucial for him. I would like to put a few in the ground myself to be natural and give the plants a chance to really develop to their full potential. I may keep a male or two in pots and use them to pollinate a bunch of hybrids I have vegging indoors. I will start flowering some soon as a few are Sativa dominant with little hope of finishing outdoors. Regards.

Hello there. Here is a shot of the little Black Widows. I have gotten used to seeing the Real Black Widow Spiders in this valley and now I get to know the Black Widow Cannabis plants. 20/20 are growing like they should and are off to a fine start. Kind regards.
