Reusing 2+ year old outdoor holes

Hey anyone have any insight on reusing holes 2 years old? I used LC's mix #1 2 years ago in my holes. Some had females in the, some had males, the males were pulled and nothing else was placed in those holes.

Well do i need to add more perlite or EWC or peat?

I know i need to add nutrients to the used holes, but how about the holes with the males in them? Will those nutrients break down and die after 2 years?

Got some 2 year old holes - plan is to take a 5 gal bucket out with a tarp & dry fert / lime mix.

Fill 5 gal bucket to see how may gal are in the hole (aprox 30-40 gal each ?)

Dump onto tarp - add ferts - mix well rolling tarp around - add cup of fert mix to bottom of hole - dump amended mixed soil back in hole.

The plan should allow me to get the dry ferts mixed well & allow me to even out the amount of gal in each hole making them all contain the same amount.

Good Luck

* also - going to try mixing some water retention crystals in this year to lessen water duty a bit.

Keeping the same holes year after year is the optimum situation for outdoor growers. Ive been planting in the same holes for 12 years. Each fall when i harvest the plant, i take a plastic bag with 2 gallons of compost in it with me. I cut the plant, chop in the compost and im ready for next year. After all of these years most of my holes are 3' in diameter and the dirt is dark and rich.

Another question about this.

I know i have to add Bone meal, Blood mean, and Kelp meal to my holes...
But do i have to add Dolomite lime to the holes also?

Thanks

Yes, and maybe some composted manure. Using my same holes for years now with LC's #1.

If you add the water crystals dig everything out of the hole then add them to the bottom. That way the roots still have to reach to get to them. If they mixed in with everything else there is no reason for the roots to grow if the water is right there

I have reused hole in the past with pretty good success. My grow area was sand. So I dig the holes up, placed the soil on a large empty flat garbage bag, I then line the holes with newspaper to hold the water in somewhat, then mix in some dry ferts, in my case it was espoma's plant tone. I did this in nov/dec so the holes could cook over the winter. Every years grow got better, untill my wife made me promise the stop the outdoor thing. Something about i'm too old for jail. But yup, It's a good way to go.......scrappy

Another great thing to add to OD holes being reused every year is rock dust
I gather mine from a local native trout stream that runs through the woods here, where it gathers at the edges.
It's more of a super fine sand really.
