Blue Mystic - Start of the Finish

Thanks guys

I can't wait to smoke her.... This round is definitely my best attempt yet and the flowers have aromas of grapefruit/candy/skunk - impressively sweet

I can see why this strain gets some bad rep though - I have passed cuts of this pheno to friends who went the synthetic route, and the buds were nearly flavorless, colorless, far less developed, and noticably less potent..... Its just one more example of how good organic soil can bring out the best in mj flowers :)

I'll follow up through harvest with flower pix and hopefully post up some dried budshots as well

Lisdexik

you use ewc/kelp/molasses teas for 7 weeks of flowering and a rock phosphate tea for the 8th week and produce those MONSTER buds? wtf have i been wasting money on.. 1.5 gallon pot WTF? wats your soil mix like? or is it all secret. id LOVE to produce those buds. id do anything to smoke them.

Well, he said he couldn't wait to smoke her... When he regains consciousness, he will no doubt bring us up to date...

Awesome color for day 53+. I'm smiling cuz I have 2 of these in the garden outside...

Wow Lisdexik, those are some very nice looking ladies you have on your hands. I too am a fan of the Blue Mystic. We grew her out on our very first grow ever and really loved the results we got (even despite the fact that we were newbs). We actually grew out two of these ladies in the same 5 gallon pot! It was great. Here are some pics:

Haha I just woke up:snap out of it:

But seriously I am sorry for forgetting about the follow up..... and I appreciate all the kind words :)

Unfortunately the buds did not last long among friends in the woods doing work for outdoor. I've been so busy with preparation that I failed to get pics of the dried porduct.

What I can tell you is that it took about 2.5 weeks for the buds to finally harden up and get smelly in a jar, but when they did it was some of the stinkiest berry smelling weed around.... Potency was good, so was density. It was a good balance of body and head - really good quality body high, felt like an opiate after a nice size doob. I ran out of BM the fastest out of the five strains harvested with her, so that says it all really...

RuerBaby -

You got me brother.... Once again thanks for the bump

santaspimp -

No secret to the soil mix. Just a modified version of an lc's mix w/ a little bit more amendment diversity. We have been recycling soil for awhile, and our flowering soil container has been cooking for a few months. Transplanting into the good stuff the day we flip to 12/12 helps the buds develop nicely, and keeps feeding to a minimum = cleanest buds possible.

Flying Goat -

You were right... haha
Good Luck w/ your ladies outside

K.J -

Really nice first effort with BM  Looks like you got a skunk pheno. I hope you kept her around for round two. ??

I'm putting her outdoor this summer!!! Should have about 10-15 going out in mid may in big pots full of the good stuff - check out my thread in the outdoor forum if y'all are interested.

I'll post up some pics of the babies veggin under the hood soon. Hopefully the outdoor organic buds pic will continue in this thread this summer :)

Of everything in my garden, the BM is the most vigorous, fastest growing. Planted at exactly the same time, same soil, same light, etc., this girl dwarfs everything else in the garden... She's gonna have nice, sturdy, hollow stems, too... By the time I topped her, I was glad I waited extra long so I could clone her, as I do not yet have a mate for her...

However, I'm waiting to see the sugar before I make my decisions...

Lisdexik - Did you have sugar all over the fan leaves as well? Make any budder or Green Dragon? I gotta know, bro...

Good to hear you recieved some nice vigourous beans of her. I doubt you'll be dissapointed with the sugar haha. My pheno does not develop heavy trich coverage on fan leaves, but everything else is heavily coated.

If you are looking to breed her and happen to have some PPP freebies around or access to good pollen, I would siggest giving it a try. We crossed her with the most sativa PPP male in our freebie pack and the results are amazing... Almost pure sativa buds and growth structure, heavy foxtailing, greasy to the touch. One pheno has trichs running the leaf edges all the way to the tips of the fanleaves, and the petioles are barely visible through the sugar haha

I made cannabutter from all the stems and good trim from a 8 plant harvest, all in one gallon pots. Ended up with a batch of lime green rice krispy treats MMMM. They make you want to sleep for about 12 hrs though....

spl1fftast1c -

Unfortunately I smoked it all..... What would you have done? haha.

Yes there will be much larger buds to show here come september. We have 10 BM bonsais w/ 12-15 tops each going into 40-50 gallon containers full of organic soil each outside in a swamp at 45N. Should be interesting...

I'll post up some pics here http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=166387
of the bonsais next Monday. I just pruned and transplanted into thier final containers to go outside in May :)

socbutter -

Thanks for stoppin in. Glad this thread could be of use to you  Good luck and hope you recieve an even better pheno than I did.

Lisdexik - Sleep for 12 hours? That would be absolute HEAVEN for me, a chronic insomniac... I'm even more excited after reading your last post.

Topped the girl out in the garden last night...

I will have the following males to cross her with:

Blue Mystic
White Widow
Pehkuruder (AF)
Blue Streak (AF)
Himalayan Blue Diesel (AF)
Auto AK47 x NYCD x Blue Streak (AF)

Which of the above would you recommend?

My only PPP is a mum, busy revegging outdoors...

Awesome! Looks like some lovely blues..just ramps up my excitement for my upcoming trial of bm along with several other nirvana strains (and many others) this summer! I have been impressed with nirvanas gens so far-stable, high qualuty plants. Am dissapointed about my purchase of short rider after falling for their extremely misleading ad which implies that this plant is an Af, but I digress. In fact I used to be a professional digressor.

Cross her with a male Blue Mystic & White Widow, just do one branch of each with a paintbrush using pollen from the differennt males and do it one day apart from each other. Keep one branch covered with clear plastic when pollinating the other side and wait a few hours then spray plant down with water to deactivate any stray pollen. Wait til next day and do the same thing to the other side with different male pollen. ;)

i too love the BM and ive done it hyrdo and your buddy just must have not been using the right nutes or did it wrong. But yeah the BM is a good specimen and i think it is the NL that they used for the cross as i grew it side by side with Nirvana NL and it seemed quite similar although it did have way more stretch so im not sure. But as far as it not looking for tasting good in hydro you my friend are mistaken i have grown it in both dirt and hydro and yeild is the only difference i saw, as the yeidl from DWC was double or triple that of the soil with the same veg period. My specimen was covered in crystals and could be considered one of the white strains

Are your BM beans showing more sat or more ind growth structure? Just wondering

It is a no brainer to make the F2's for me for many reasons - I like the increased variation and always having her beans around to be safe. I only grow seeds when I'm feeling curious, or want a new and unique mom so this works for me.

It would be cool to hit that PPP reveg w/ some BM pollen sometime this summer. You would probably get better growth structure and flavor then going BMxPPP....

What is your WW like? Which breeder? That male could produce a BM hybrid that would give you good trimmings for hash/butter like you mentioned earlier, and would keep potency at the max. Just a thought

I have no experience w/ autoflowering strains. How does it work when you cross an AF male to regular female pollen??? Will the progeny all be one or the other?? or will autoflowering be phenotypically based???

SOFT420 -

It sounded to me like Goat just took cuts off of the plant in the flowering room to go to a breeding box with the male of choice, and does not pollenate in his flowering room. I'm not sure though.

HBXNLmaster -

I never bashed hydro or anything like that. I think hydro would produce buds that are just as good as soil with BM. The point I was trying to make, was that BM is a far better product when grown organically - regardless of the medium. I've held organic soil and non organic soil grown BM buds in my hands side by side, same cut - totally different product. Grown w/ the same lighting a mile down the street from me....

Lisdexik - Oh, man, am I embarrassed! I am NO WAY as advanced as you guys... I grow in my own mix of Alabama clay & goat shit, among other things. Totally organic. I collect pollen & then hand-breed my mothers, but am only beginning at cloning.

I'm an old lady & a med user (shaking all over right now, so be patient with me) working to legalize MMJ in Alabama. Reason I'm into AFs is because it's almost instant gratification as far as breeding goes... you just have to plant enuf to have a good range of phenos to select from... Not me, but I worked for a dude in Oz who showed me the technique... I've been in Australia for a while & just got back in the States in 2008, with much to catch up on with the MJ scene.

Fibromyalgia & chronic pain due to inflammation has become the drag of my life. The reason I have interest in the AFs is the high CBD% in the ruderalis foundation. This can be up to 30x that of standard weed.

I've only just discovered AFs but have just finished my first grow & there is a different, pleasant but strange sensation that lasts hours after smoking it. My joints are not as stiff & my innards are not as upset... On top of that, it was TOTAL painkiller that didn't give me the munchies, with a pleasant energetic buzz. I can tell ya, in the world of painkillers, there ain't nothing out there like this.

You can learn more in the Autoflower forum & AF social group...

Sure appreciate the advice from you guys, I'd like to hear more & will tell you about the tiny little bit of work I am doing to develop a documented medical strainbase, seed & pollen bank, etc. I want to be able to provide Alabama patients with beans, info, etc. at no cost to them... Most of us are on disability anyway & could never afford the genetics we need.

Gotta get up & stretch now. Really do appreciate the info, guys.

Whats up y'all

Flying Goat -

Sorry to hear you suffer so much.... I too suffer nausea and chronic pain at times. I have digestive problems including IBS. MJ is about the only med I've tried over a 5 year period with success.... I'm only 24, so I will have to live with with my probelms for a long time as well, unfortunately....

I have a great deal of respect for activists like you who are in it to help people and not just to make a buck. Doing the community good service while in chronic pain is true activism. So much about the medical scene disgusts me these days..... It's nice to see that somebody cares :)

Thanks for the info on the AF's! I did not know they had such high CBD%. I will definitely check out that forum. I am always in need of quality nausea relief.

GeorgeSmiley -

Thanks for the good words  It means a lot coming from you.

So I finally got around to taking some pics of the outdoor BM clones awaiting thier 40 Gallon pots.

Here they are in the bathtub awaiting tea

I just noticed something. I looked up the description of both the Nirvana and the Royal Queen BM strains. They virtually read word for word the same. AND, they cost exactly the same.. I wonder if there's some sort of affiliation..

mgk

FG what you said is very interesting. I had one Ak-47 AF I grew out and I gotta say, what it lacked in high thc content (akin to couchlock indica high) it made up for in high CBD. I didn't know it was relative to the ruderalis. Where can I find more information about this? The reason I'm asking because while the AF wasn't the most amazing smoke, it certainly was one of my more pleasant experiences in my 10 year smoking career. The most clear and vibrant high I think I've had in a long long time. Btw good luck with your initiative.. try to meet some people here; might be a lawyer around that could/would help you out..
