Recommendations for a 120mm case fan - high static pressure, low noise

Hey,

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a 120mm case fan which has a high static pressure and relatively low (<35db) noise. My current fan, at 1.68 mm/h20, is just not handling pushing enough air through my scrubber.

thanks

Hey! Check out Delta, Scythe, Sunon, Thermaltake, Nidec(the best in my opinion) to name a few of the really good fan makers..just search sites that sell these fans and check out the specs till you find the one you need..
I've used Delta and Nidec and they are both great fans paired with a good speed controller and you are laughing all the way to the bud factory..
You can use a fan that may seem loud at normal speeds, but using a fan speed controller which slows the fan speed creating less noise but still enabling the fan to push/pull through a scrubber...
hope this helps..

I use a thermaltake smart fan 2 in my main cab at the moment. It has a speed dial so probably around half way on the dial would be you, leaving you some headroom if you ever need it.

Having said that, I will one day upgrade it to an undervolted Delta.

Your best bet is to read Scrub's excellent PC Case fan thread. There is a link in his sig.

I use 2 of these;
DELTA AFB1212HHE-F00
Fan Speed: 2800 RPM
Maximum Airflow: 120 CFM, 3.40 m3/min
Maximum Air Pressure: 9.00 mmH20, 0.354 inch H20

Right now they are running about 1/2 speed mounted under a flat scrubber. In a completely quite house I can just hear them. But it is such a steady state noise that it can be ignored easily.

When cranked at full speed they make a lot more noise but I plan to have a window fan in the same room to mask the cab noise.

Hope this helps and good luck,
OO
