Solarburst failure with digital ballast ....

This bugger blew last night , face was two feet away and took some shrapnel , thankfully i wear glasses as there was easily enougth energy to blind.

Sounded very like a gunshot and nearly shit myself, glass mostly in tiny shards leaveing the plants very sparkly but will be hard to remove at harvest.

Was running fine for ten 12 hour cycles and failed with no visible or audible warning two hours after final startup.

The BAL 600 watt ballast was not affected but did NOT cut out and was still supplying current , old proven phillips now working fine.

Was recommended to try these as suitable for digital , anyone else have any experience with these ?

That is a bummer indeed. Good thing none of that shit got into your eyes. I have no experience with Solarburst lamps. I use the generics from Lowes/Depot without any problems, digital or magnetic ballasts. I just got a few Plantmax lamps and am hoping they don't blow up on me.

Without prescription glasses , a thick beard and a woolly hat i could have ended up down casualty.

Only a moment before , Mrs Foomar was standing next to me and would have caught an unprotected face full , one of many over the years but not at 400 c .

Now in a cooltube for safety as i am around them a lot , could be an awkward insurance claim with fire or injury.

Trawling the interweb thingy finds no definitive list of which product is rated for digital , and individual manufacturers are not all of much use when contacted.

Damn. No wonder they're called SolarBurst. Can't say you weren't warned @ purchase time. I heard glass dust in buds was a commonplace thing in the EU, so maybe start a new trend in NA.

HID lamp failure is pretty common...even at the factory. ...the best suppliers... pre-burn their lamps
