What's new

vertical aeroponic 2000W

Ok, sorry to disappoint guys, but my yield was only 2 lb, 3 oz. that's 980g, just under .5gpw.

I knew I was cutting my losses by harvesting early. I did not know that those smaller buds would lose so much weight on drying. There are two good reasons that I cut when I did:

1. I have some serious smell-proofing to do with the a/c unit -- the kind of stuff I wasn't comfortable doing during flowering

{ ...and more importantly... }

2. I knew I had screwed this grow by overcrowding and overvegging. All my new clones are rooted and vegging under cfls for the time being. I didn't want to waste more time on a grow that I knew was never going to achieve full potential (or not even close, apparently). I could have given the Chocolope a full 12 - 14 week bud that I've heard recommended for weight, but I don't believe that the back buds would have put on much weight since they were so shaded, making those extra few weeks effectively pointless.

Oh, well, it's a learning experience for sure. I had never scrogged before either, so I've got that under my belt at least.
This was only my second vertical grow, and my second hydro grow, and my first grow with a set up anything like this. All in all I have to say I'm satisfied with my yield -- at least it'll bring in some badly needed funds for things like carbon filters and nutrients -- and the bud is just incredible, so no complaints there.

Next run I'll be doing a commercial strain, Rocklock (Rock Star X Warlock), so we'll see how it goes. I'm only going to veg for about a week, maybe a little more. I'm still getting my feet wet here, so to speak, so I'm gonna try to make this next grow very different from the last one, for comparison's sake.

I think canopy distance is undermined in importance in a system like this. Finding the right distance for each strain is really an artform. Heath created at least one masterpiece.

Also, uniformity is key. It was the lack of uniformity in this grow that screwed me. In the future I'm going to make it much, much thinner to try to pull out a larger yield. Also, I'm going to keep the plants behind the screen right up until flowering, and maybe even a little longer. Farther is better within the dimensions of my octagon.

Well, enough justification -- now I'm ready to redeem myself.

dissappointed as I loved the setup, but I do believe it was way overcrowded and you pointed that out. You have a great space though, and i love the getup :p have fun with that $$ and grow big next time like the rockstar youll b growin

yeah, like a rock star lol

rockstar supposed to be a big yielder? I've heard a few things about warlock and a few about rockstar, but nothing too concrete. I know they're both commercial strains, so I'm not so worried about them being real low-yielders, but it'd be nice to have somebody confirm that they've gotten a large crop out of one of them.

4-20 update... lots of edibles for today. some baked drum with asparagus and and squash/zuchinni stir fry. german chocolate cake with walnuts, almonds and pecans, with oil even in the icing.
later on I'm going to make a triple layer vanilla/red velvet with 2 oz of trim in it. mmmmmmm...

I've got one plant per side per level, except for one side, where I put two because they were smaller than the others. I'm going to veg for about 4 days then flip into flower. It should be very different from last run.

these are from yesterday:

yeah, I ended up vegging way longer, too long again, because I went on vacation. My partner's thumb greened up real quick I guess. I'll update in a few minutes -- I'm exceedingly happy tho

UPDATE DAY 0

well, my vacation was really fun, if anyone cares to know -- I spent a ton of money and had a blast, and came back with a really cool new piece

Hits like a champ. I only paid $60 for it, and it's really thick, so I think I got away with a deal. I already had the bowl, I wanted a piece for it -- I broke the last two a few years ago.

aaaannnyywaayyyy....

My partner did very, very well while I was gone. I haven't had a chance to thank him yet, so if you read this before I see you, good f-in' job, bro, way to hold down the fort.

I left on day 4 of veg and they hadn't really started taking off like I'd hoped. So they vegged for just over two weeks so far, and the lights are going off tonight for 12 hours before coming back on at 4 pm tomorrow afternoon.
I'm going to change the res water for the first time in about 2 weeks (vacation) tomorrow morning.
This is gonna be really fun...

So I realized how much of a disservice I'd been doing by never posting final bud pics.
These are the two I have on me right now --- most of the rest is gone pecan.

Nice grow man, really appreciate the training pictures you show in this round.

I noticed the the bulb is no longer in a cool tube...Did you axe the cool tube(s), or was that just a different angle? If so, why?

Anxious for an update bro.
