Anyone clone straight into coco?

Thinking of starting a perpetual SOG. I would do this w/ 4-5 cuts per week an am wondering if I should clone cuts into rockwool until rooted (then place in coco pots), or clone the cuts straight into small coco pots?

I made that for less then 100$.

Success rate with~out even ph'ing, it is always 100%.

Actually I do use a little powder that i dip the fresh cutting in and drop it in. Then 15 on 15 off timer from the get go , will get most strains 20 inch root system in 7 days. Thats it, I don't check or touch just 7 days later, done.

When i really need to boost them i'll give them a 50% mix ph'd with some Root Excelerator and Hygrozyme on the 5th day and by day 7 Ive got 3+ nodes on top and a tangled hairy root mess down below....

Nothing is easier, IMOP.

Just throwing it out there.....

well im a first time coco pro then cause i took cuts, split the ends up 1/8 and lightly powdered them and then straight into coco that was flushed with 6.2ph and 6ml per gal of Grozyme, and twice or 3 times id foliar them with the same water and not one fell over and in 8 days i saw roots at the bottom of the red party cups.

AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING WITH COCO IN THE FIRST PLACE, Thom conned me into it haha. anywho, i didnt build anything, i just have 4x46w CFL i think its somewhere around 5600lumens all together and no cards up my sleeves. Just Grozyme and a drop or two of biobizz bloom in the foliar bottle sometimes just for shits

1st time coco snapped a clone in rockwool popped it in a little
pot of coco with nothing added at all and it has rooted and
started growing, only thing i use on clones now anyway is
formulex.
i have tried clonex but notice no difference.

I could not leave the clones alone. I was always lookin over them and refillin the cups which led to a below average success rate. I 1st learned to clone with rockwool and then moved on to rapid rooters. Rapid rooters gave me the best results but ...because I use coco exclusively I thought I should also do my clones in coco. I had to do too much tweaking for success and found my earlier results with RR were more conventional.

I use Jiffy pellets, bottom heat, Clonex and get this.

38 CLONES

14 DAYS LATER ALL HAVE ROOTS LIKE THIS

Lots of different ways to clone out there.

As long as it's going ...

First time cloning for me - Took 3 cuts last night, used Olivia's gel & followed youtube instructions straight into coco. Coco was well soaked & drained w/ distilled H20 + 1.1 ml Roots Excelurator & ph'ed to 5.8. Today 2 of the 3 are totally wilted. The prognosis is not good, looks terminal. I have them in inside my cat-proof bucket set-up w/ (2) 26watt cfls. I wonder if its too hot for them. The bucket set up is 2 5-gal buckets mouth-to-mouth w/ the lights suspended from inside the top bucket.

My first try mine wilted almost immediatly after putting under lights. You do not need all of that light, just use 1 bulb. What are temps and RH? Too much light is one thing I think made mine wilt. I just have 26 watts now, and my 2nd batch did not wilt at all. I also soaked stems in cool water for 10 min and used light cloning gel.

My 1st batch even tho they wilted a few sprouted roots in 7 days! The roots are huge now, but top is not really growing yet. I purchased a seedling heat mat and a digital temp controller for it, so my temps at root zone are perfect for this batch. Temps, light, and humidity are key for cloning...which ever way you do it.

mmm I soaked them for at least 5 min in non-ph'd distilled water prob 7.2 now that I think of it. and thoroughly covered in gel.

You have too much light, take out a bulb. What is your humidity? Try a dome of one that is wilted. Also I pretreated my coco with half strength nutes and hydrate with water if the top drys out. Make sure pH is 5.5-6.2...not 7.2. Good luck.

slowandeasy, thanks man. The 2 wilted clones are actually coming back. Yeah, took out 1 bulb. That may have been the culprit. The pH was just a dumb oversight, I should know better. I think they'll make it, but I'm going to cut a few new ones for the "practice" & see how they do under the same methods.

No problem! My 2nd batch did so much better than the 1st. Half of them were well rooted in 7 days...roots to bottom of cups. 2 look kinda bad, and 2 others look great...just no roots yet. Temps, humidity and light are key. 80 degrees and minimal light worked great for me. Good luck, they prolly will root even tho they wilted...they will come back.

I grow in coco, used to clone in coco and found using a DIY aerocloner (like the pic above) quicker, easier, and with higher success rate then cloning in coco....

99.5% with the aerocloner and maybe 85% in coco. Always roots in under 10 days with the aerocloner.

If you're going to clone in coco, keep the coco moist but not wet, warm is good feed 1/4 strength every few days.....good luck
