I need info on J1?

J1 is a strain I've been smoking lately and it's excellent. Defiantly in my top 5. Does anyone have info or pictures of this strain. I'm planning on crossing to a REZ SD. I think this would make an awesome cross. Thank You.

J1 is (Jack Herer x Skunk #1). This cross came out of Europe and was created many years back. If you have a legitimate cut then yes very nice. Throw up a few pics and I can probably confirm if what you have is the real deal. She doesn't seem to cross well so good luck. I was running J1 full time exclusively over 5 years ago to the tune of about 6 lbs per crop indoors, before anyone really heard about it, so yes have some experience.

Subrob knows a bit about J1 cause he got the cut from me.

I made a cross called Full Metal Jack which is J1 x Shadow Haze bx1. Shadow Haze bx1 is ((Dutch Flowers Metal Haze x (Dutch Flowers Metal Haze x C99)) and that SH bx1 dad was a special one! Veg reports seem to indicate the J1 is dominant. Looking very nice so far and got about 50 of those beans off to the side. Tried a Purple Afghani x pure Oaxacan dad (these beans were made in the Oaxaca area) to J1 and he stomped all over her.

The J1 that I have was made from one of my old friends from the 80's to early 90's. It's probably not the one that you are talking about but this one was started in Greece and then finished in the East Coast, USA. This guy is a very experienced breeder and was working with Carlos from Sensi back in the day. He passed it to CA back in the late 90's and the exact make up is:

J1 = [(Original Haze x NL5) x (Skunk1 x Columbian Gold)] x Silver Pearl

The look of the bud is mostly Tai and smells similar to a Haze and finishes in 65 - 70 days. My apologies if you are talking about a different J1.

Snype, you nailed it. One of the best highs and incredible taste I have ever encountered. Has orange hairs, smell's like SSH,Haze,Mango Thai. I don't have the cut yet. My buddy is going to be gifting me a tray. He's been in northern Cali. since the 70's and every strain from him is strait cript. The high literally Blast you to outerspace, the high has so many unique qualities, I am very impressed ,complete relaxation,100 percent bliss. It's proably the most creative,euphoric,blissful.cannabis I have ever experienced.(for the moment)

r head...glad you got it, hope you enjoy it...if you got the cut from the socal medscene, its very good odds you got the cut that came from yankee grower...pick his brain while he is here, he knows her better then most!...always reminded me of gatorade when grown organically..had a hydro sample from the club, the grower ruined it, but when you have a chance to grow her, and you do it right, you will have some special smoke...i can also vouch for that shadow haze potency as i had the pleasure of some metal haze samples...phenomenal!...heres some j1 pics...good luck

All I know is when I got the cut over 5 years ago I poured through the forums and internet looking for references. ONLY thing I could find was a smoke report done by someone or some online 'service' that rated samples. The sample came from the Gray Area in Amsterdam and was called specifically J1 and listed as Jack Herer x Skunk #1 so the name made sense. I was gonna do a MILF article for Skunk mag and researched again and then there was a strain popping up called J1 Haze...also from the Gray Area...so I called them lol. Talked to the guy for awhile and basically confirmed what I had thought. I've also heard, more recently, people call Jack Herer pure J1 but that term applied to JH also seems more recent. J1 is a distinct strain IMO.

If you look at Subrob's flowering pics they look a lot like Jack Herer. You can see the Haze influence in the pics...and also smell it. The stuff is super nice smelling and tasting. I always thought crossing J1 to a Haze would be the way to go and was stoked to get my hands on some Shadow Haze bx1 pollen from a formal breeder friend. It's one of those rare males so got my fingers crossed the babies turn out half as good as I think they will. The offspring should be heavy female leaning and also hermie free. I've never seen J1 hermie and the male will only reinforce that trait. My breeder friend said for sure some type of heirloom sativa in J1. Best I can figure it's a pretty old cross. This one goes about 63 days in hydro. For sure the buds look more like JH on a bit of steroids than Thai. The structure is also pretty dense.

The J1 that I have sounds different than yours. It doesn't like hydro too much and is much better and denser in soil. The one that I have when grown right is in the top 3 of potent weeds that I've ever smoked in my life and the flavor is amazing and has a nice yield on it too. The high is all uplifting and you can really feel it in your head and the taste is very similar to a haze. I guess they just happen to have the same name but it's funny how they are pretty similar. I wonder if somehow these are related but who knows.

Got delayed with certain aspects of my project, out of my control, so debating whether to put off the trip. For sure will be heading down your way fairly soon though. Gotta try that Tahoe! At the latest will be down October for the hydro show. That will give you more than enough time to run this other J1...LOL! The J1 name doesn't seem to fit that cross though. J1 Kush...ha ha...gotta love Cali!

Yankee Grower, sorry for being such a hot head. Strain kicks ass. Much respect to you. I really like this strain, and would love to improve on it if it can be done. If you have any other info or pics please post. I'm going to be receiving a full tray in about a week. All info on how to best grow her will be much welcomed. Thank You for sharing.
