I wouldn't use it, the only time I have used 70% is when the other 30% is distilled water, as based on the bottle, I always have a hard time getting it to harden right when using the 70%.

Either get some 91% or a different 70%.

don't use that shit dude. thats some poisonous stuff. use 95% grain alcohol. or butane, or dry sift it.

The stuff you are asking about is not suitable for extraction because of the other ingredients and high water content.

99% iso or 95% ethanol would be a better choice.

Locally we use either Everclear or Clear Springs 190 proof from the liquor store.

Safeway also handles 99% ISO.

Definitely go with the 99 or 91%. I've used a 70% before but like above ^^ the only other ingredient was water. It takes a little extra time to dry out the QWISO, but with your 70%, I would definitely be weary of those other ingredients.

All pharmacies around here carry the 91% at least. You may have to ask for it or go on a bit of a hunt inside the store, but any main pharmacy should have it in stock.

Or go with the grain alcohol like gray wolf suggested.

Take care,
JB

Google denatonium benzoate.

I'm NOT recommending that anyone use this to make anything consumable, but I DID google it-did you??

"It is not known to pose any long-term health risks"

The whole point to add it to the alcohol is to make it very bitter so people would be unlikely to drink it, but not to poison them if they do so anyway.

Again, to be clear, since people around here have a tendency to explode, I AM NOT recommending this as a good solvent for oil making, just adding some information, cause I'd also recommend food grade 190 proof ethanol.

PS- the MIBK in there actually has a higher boiling point than water, so that would make it pretty useless for your purposes anyway...

Hi troll!

Yes I'm so stupid I recommend soaking pot in a solution of the most bitter substance there is, and boiling it down and smoking the residue. Oh wait, I recommended against that. What's the problem...I'm supposed to want that...WTF?

If you want to do that then go right ahead. I could not care less what you smoke, or if you think I'm retarded for not wanting to smoke Bitrex.

GO JOE- exactly the kind of ignorant reaction I tried to take pains to avoid-oh well...

mrred-
I buy 190 proof in bulk from a place called Pharmco, for making herbal (the legal kind) tinctures. They'll sell to anyone, but you have to set up an account, etc, so they aren't really the easiest to deal with. Price beats Everclear, though, and you can get certified organic in both cane and grain based. Search 190 proof ethanol- there may be some other places that will sell with less hassle...
Are you in a state where you cannot buy grain alcohol at a liquor store?

Wow Joe way to spaz, you do not take a pro or con stance in your first post you just suggest people google it so don't get you panties in a bunch when someone warns others against it.

The issue in the US is that is that food grade ethanol is taxed and not to be had at free market prices.

The cheap ethanol can be picked up at the paint store, but has been denatured to prevent using as food grade.

The reagent grades are available at the scientific supply stores, but aren't cheap.
