pot size under 600w

hello i would like to hear thoughts and opinions on container size im under a 600whps in a 6.5 foot squared grow tent(i know its too big for a 600w i run a 100w in the fall/winter when heat is controllable) anyways i have a light mover and will be flowering about 15 plants at around 15 inches give or take. im in ocean forest soil with 33% perlite amended(i like very good drainage) im deciding between 1.5 2.5 or 3.5 gallon containers. any advice appreciated remember though i have 15 that need to flower simultaeneosly. thanks in advance:bump:

15" tall is kinda large for anything under 3.5 gallons, even then anything I usually have even close to that size goes into a 5 gallon bucket with a portable scrog screen. Right now I have 4 5 gal buckets and 5 or 6 3 gal bags under my 600. The ones in the 3 gal bags were veg'd for 30 days.

Other wise take your floor space and divide it by the size of each pot, this will tell you how many of each size you can cram under there, then adjust you veg time accordingly.

I'd have to say do 16 3 gallons in a 4x4 flipped at 12'' for a 600, vegging any bigger will not increase yields, you'll just end up with more bottom popcorn to prune. I usually get like 18oz per horizontal 600w light with 16 3 gallons but I'm switching to 4k vertical to fully maximize light efficiency and keep numbers down.

I'm with 250w. 12" and flip for 3 gallon containers. I'd imagine 15" would be fine, honestly. If they're stretchy sativa's you might wanna get 5 gallon containers.

yeah i probably should flower them all now you do get popcorn at the bottom if there too tall no worries though 'when life gives you popcorn buds make hash' im thinking the #3 buckets are probably fine they are 2.5 gall i may put some of my prize og kushes in 4 gall containers. what makes this even more complicated is i grow multiple strains of various heights i know this makes things difficult but i hate only having one or two strains on hand generally in the past i simply elevate the shorter indicas. you are probably right about not getting any better yield if i veg past 12' that is a good point. thanks for the advice more always welcome. at least i have the light mover so coverage is good.

3 gallon pots would work best, given the plant numbers. Flipping them at 12 inches, would also help keep the canopy, more manageable, than at 15 inches. Not meaning to echo, but the advice is solid.

I have a 5x5 tent with 2 600w's side by side and i have 11 ladies all in 3 gallons.. i think however to make best use of space you could do at least 6 5gallons with another 4 3gallons or so... or like 20ish 3gallons straight up

That many plants under 600W in tha space I would go in 2-3 gal pots for sure. Veg 3 weeks or flip once the plants are 8-10" high.

I ran 25 3 gallon grow bags in a 4x4 and it was a bitch to deal with. I think I didn't even need that much soil especially with the canopy size of 25 girls in 3 gallons.

I am going to be trying out 2 gallon bags this go around and I think it will work wonders.

On the too tall and getting popcorn buds comments:

yes you could make hash out of it BUT trimming that many girls of their popcorn fuckin sucks and odds are you might prefer trimming the bottom 12" to 18" off the plant to maximize yout top quality buds, less trimming to do AND you can still run hash from the trim you get off your top buds.

In my last one I left everything, didn't top, didn't trim anything off unless it fell off. The trim job was a pain in the ass and the amount of popcorn really took away from the top weight and wasting grow power on shit that didn't get enough light to get dense.

i have been trimming lower branches but may do a more thorough job tomorrow i have put most in flower i went with 2.5 gall containers. this is a breeding project so it is what it is. the worst part is the multitude of strains im growing. im thinking i will elevate the indicas as i have done in the past.

i had a 5' x 5.5' closet and found that using 3 gall pots was best. my current grow tent is 4' 9" x 4' 9"; 600 watt and the 3 gall pots are perfect. i'd go with the 3.5 gallon unless their footprint is a lot bigger than the 2.5 gallon. the 1.5 will be root bound way before harvest.

i just bought a bunch of smart pots. i'm hoping they help the soil in the middle get more roots. we shall see! :)

good luck!

I flower under 600s - all 2gal pots. I've actually just set a new personal best for a 2gal pot - 4oz dry/cured. The drawback, like with the plant I mentioned, is the need to water every few days.
