Exposing Flowering Plants 5 mins After Lights Out?

Last night, literally 5 minutes after the lights kicked off, I heard an unwholesome noise coming from the cab...one I couldn't ignore. I opened it up, and one of the axial circulation fans had come loose from its bracket.

In any case, and obviously, the plants got exposed to light. But again, this was only five minutes after the lights kicked off. My gut and growing wherewithal tells me this is probably a non-issue, but wanted to run it by the community.

I know they sell green LED lights to use at "night". Green is the only color unvisible to plants so you can use the green light and technically they don't see anything.

That is no probem, in fact a lot of the time for specific reasons I have to be in my room 10-15 minutes before lights on, it's never ever ever been a problem

If I have males and flip on the light, will they turn female? How did this myth get started. Jorge???

Its not a myth, but 5 mins after lights out wont do any damage as it takes a couple of hours for the plants to switch. Prolonged lightleaks or doing that in the middle of the dark cycle can make your plants hermie.

I move plants inside at night to get the required darkness. I screw up a lot. In the fall I leave them outside subject to neighbors lights as well as my own. I get an occasional hermie. I have found no reason to correlate the two. It simply does not seem to prove out. I can find no supporting data, only perpetuation of the myth.

i dont get how the green light thing works?
say you open your tent or room up 5-10 mins before or after lights on/off
to go in have a look with the green light are you not still exposing them by
opening the door in the first place?
or is ther another way to go about it.

Between last xmas and last weekend my room had been running on this interrupted dark cycle after rearangeing the electrics , one segment of the timer snagged on something.

One hour and forty five minutes dark.
Fifteen minutes full light.
Ten hours continuous darkness.

Test plants have sexed and finished as expected with no issues and not noticeably slower.

As everything has performed much as usual in a long established permanent flowering room it seems that ten hours is enougth for most unless i have been lucky , purer haze/zamal genetics would probably never have flowered.

The green LED light is the only light you would have on while working on plants. It's like a green LED flashlight or lamp, green light is invisible to plants. This way you can work on plants all you like during "night".
