strongest smell before lights turn on

So does anyone have a theory as to why plants smell so much stronger the couple hours before the lights turn on? Ive always wondered what the reasoning was for this

My garden always smell strongest right after the light turns off.

i find this also when i come in from work,my theory is heat from lights is
not pushing up smell particles maybe it sort of hovers bellow the canopy?

I should preface by saying I am using cfls

I'll take a stab at this. Plants transpire at night. During the day/lights on, the plant is busy making food. Photo-what have ya. lol At night it sends the the food throughout it's little system and brings water and nutes up from the root system. Evidently it's tough work, lol, and the plant exhales oxygen. Out goes the oxygen and tagging along is odor. Think of someone with bad breath. Everything is fine till they open their mouth to talk and along with their BS out comes their odor.
It's my simple take on this matter and like a lot of things I'm may be wrong but at least ya didn't have to smell my breath.
