RIP Jack Herer

After hearing of the tragic passing of Jack Herer i was instantly taken back to the 1st time i smoked Jack Herer in 2000.
I was 21 at the time & getting ready for my 3rd trip to Amsterdam. I started smoking weed at 15 & by the time i was 18-19 i was learning all i could about on the subject. A few years after the cannabis drought in 1995 in the uk more & more "skunk" cannabis became available & less & less hash & "ganja" weed was about people we`re talking about & asking for Northern Lights, Super Skunk, White Widow, Super Silver Haze instead of Gold Seal, Red Leb, Sensimilia & Thai weed.
One of the worlds most famous strains is of course Jack Herer. By the time i hit Dam in 2000 it already had legendary status as one of the worlds best strains after winning the 1994 Cannabis Cup.
Dealers we`re always claiming they had it back home, but there was no way to tell, but i will never for get the 1st time i knew i smoked it.
10 or us had arived in Amsterdam & emerged out of the train station around 10.30am. 7 of us we`re in a hotel that was a 10 min taxi ride away & the other 3 (i was one) was in the hotel Terminus that was in the red light district. After arguing for 5 mins about wether we should check in or go for a smoke 1st we decided to go for a smoke as we had walked down the Damrak & was near the Grasshopper. We went in, bought drinks & sat down & 3 of us went to the dealer bar.
I`ve not been to the Grasshopper since, but the menu was behind a dark screen & you had to press a light switch so you could see it. I pressed the button & the light came on long enough for me to read 2 words, JACK HERER. I turned towards the dealer to order & my friend moved in front of the screen saying he didnt get to see what was on the menu & i told him to order the same as me.
I got a 2gram bud that was dripping is THC & had the classic Jack Herer look to it. I will never forget how sweet the spliff tasted. & just as we we `re finishing our joints & getting ready to go to the hotels what did i see out of the window about 100 yards away? It was the hotel Terminus where we we `re staying! Without saying another word the 3 of us who we`re staying there sat straight back down for another spliff whilst the other 7 went looking for a cab to their hotel!
Thanks Jack for helping us kick off our trip! I was planning to grow Red diesel for my next grow but will grow Jack Herer in your honor.

JH was the 1st strain i bought in Dam back in 99' , From coffee shop 'old style' at about half nine in the morning after a 12 hr coach ride! didnt have any accomodation booked so spent the next few hours wondering like a zombie in a circle round the centrum! RIP Jack!

Yup, end of summer 1996. Got some really dry crushed weed from a pal and wasn't impressed with the look, he just said it's a ganja cup winner called Jack Herer, and that it's great weed.. After smoking it, i was too stoned to agree, tolerance gone up from those days. ..Back when HTCC still meant something and u could trust Sensi Seeds to atleast have seeds that germinate..

Dem days are gone.

I can remember the first and only joint I toked with Jack, but I've never had the pleasure of trying the legendary Jack Herer strain (at least, not that I know of). But I found it rather synchronous that just 3 days before his death, I managed to acquire some VERY excellent Jack Flash (Jack Herer x Super Skunk x Haze) that I will cherish every moment with.

i actually didnt smoke Jack Herrer till recently..i mean ive had "jack" before but i was never sure if it was real jack herrer and not just someone calling it that. when i had the real deal it was from my roomies buddy in SF whos a strain whore, Ps of jack were going for 37 when good purps were going for 36...so it was way more expensive.

but that shit is like coffee in the morning. JH is the best shit to smoke during the day, very nice uplifting high that doesnt give you couchlock. and a very gentle sweet taste, one of the few herbs you can smoke a whole joint through without getting the hashy ashy strong taste....it was sweet and aromatic the whole joint through..good shit.

in the summer of 97 I smoked some Jack Herer that a good friend of mine had grown... I don't thik he'd grown before but was a good head and full of knowledge and this had resulted in a decent job being done on the grow

I arrived by motorbike and can honestly say I have never had any trouble riding after smoking before, but in this case, found myself unable to leave for about 3 hours

I do remember smoking the old Jack Herer (pre-2k), it was finicky to grow, and did not produce much. But man was is good. RIP Jack Herer, you were a good dude.

Despite my years of smoking experience and several trips to amsterdam my first JH experience was in LA! I fell in love after picking some up from a reliable source. I stashed as much as I could away and ran out about 3 months ago. I would have saved some to smoke in honor of the namesake had I thought this might happen.

Three maybee four years ago someone passed me a half smoked bowl and said it was jack herer.
But last winter i got a sack and it was excellent! Hazy with a hint of some kind of sweetness.
I just recieved 20 seeds of Jack Herer x Mango Haze! probly wont pop'em until the end of summer though.
