are they reusable? Can they withstand the warmth of a heating mat?

the package says " propagating houseplants and softwood cuttings is easy with gel2root. this transparent, sterile, rooting gel is non toxic, safe to use,and contains all the nutrients and water required to produce strong, healthy rooted cuttings. the unique transparent gel makes it easy to watch the progress of the root system as it develops. in only a few weeks cuttings are fully rooted and ready to transplant into potting soil. if a cutting fails to develop roots, simply remove it and replace it. gel2root's unique formula has been successfully tested on a wide range of plants including african violets, fuchsias, and chrysanthemums.

pretty nifty. do you think youll have an issue pulling them out, like maybe getting the roots all mixed up together?, i have never cloned two things in the same container before and always wondered if you could do it. cant wait to see how this turns out.

holy shit..... i started this thread on 3/31/10 and didnt have an ounce of hope that these clones would take in this gel stuff. its now april 12th and look what i find........ ROOTS & NUBS ! ! ! ! shocking.... i know. 2 of them didnt take.... but the swiss cheese cuttings is luckily the one that did take. i sat em on my back porch and actually just kinda forgot about them, but looked at them yesterday and i had these roots. so these gel things must actually work somewhat. any ?'s anyone has feel free 2 ask.... :tiphat:

i like em but for the price they'd have to be guaranteed to work. saw 6 for $17, kinda like 3 bucks each

I was wondering if you would get algae. Seems fine. I would let the roots get a few days bigger. I have never used FFoF, but is it not a bit hot for transplants?

I want to see if they come out clean.

Found them for ~2.00 each (6pk) @ gardendesert. Still more expensive than other methods but cool still.

These were heavily promoted at local garden centres some years ago but were not seen the following season , concensus is they are no better than traditional methods and actually slower for soft cuttings.

Every grower i know , canna and everything else , tried them once and never brought another pack.
Just like superthrive.

Jar of tapwater on a windowcill changed every other day roots in 14 - 21 days , four different cuts in the gell took 21 - 30+ and yellowed badly but survived.

They are faster with softwood cuttings than the usual ways but had no luck with toms or peppers or any other soft stemmed plant includeing fuchias which they say its good for.

If you get a chance try a cut in plain water and one in gell and see how it goes.
