i drained the rez the best i could theres about 2-3 gallons old runnoff left in rez. then i added just water and a few scoops of great white shark to promote some new root growth...

ima fucking loose it! the slime is coming off the roots and clogging up my drains. just went down stairs to find 25gals of water 2-3inches high in the bottom of the 5x10, yet another empty rez to refil. waste of greatwhite... really hope this shit corrects itself.

That sounds bad, I wouldn't have trimmed the roots then I read that they were blocking your drain. The fact that roots do block drains, might be causing your root rot. Do you use molasses? That might be causing some root rot too, perhaps it's just the lack of drainage that is lowering the dissolved O2.

I've wrapped my brain around trying to think of how drains can work better without having roots clog. It's a pain, I've never thought of anything since they work through every device I can think of. Mesh won't work, they worm their way with their tiny tips and if water can get through so can roots.

funny you say molasses. i added about a 1/4 cup to my 25gal rez the day before i seen this problem start. but i also added it to my other rez and there is NO SLIME there

Anything different with the other rez, it's temperature, what is in it, anything at all?

Molasses, catalyst, all of these soil sweeteners also grow unwanted organisms.

HEY BUD

HEY BUD

i am an aero master. about 7 years into it now. GO GET HYGROZYME NOW. it will eat that shit away and promote healthy roots. seeing you are so far intyo flowering your meds it is key to apply HYGROZYME asap so you can flush those nutes out. might be a good idea if you are 2 weeks from finish to emty res and do a cleaerex solution for a few hours, then drain and fill res with water and HYGROZYME for a week, then change your res with ro water or plain water if ro is not available for your final flush for that last week if the roots are coming back. if not do that flush with the HYGROZYME. it will not hurt the flavor or quallity. keep your ph 5.5 to 5.7 always. and flush every other res change(2 weeks). start this today! if you want those roots to be able to be healthy enough to feed those guys the good water to get good quallity smooth medicine that is leached as good as it can under you circumstances.:plant grow:

GMC is correct about this products abilities and usage techniques...for sure with your Aeroponic setup in the interest of keeping it a clean clog free system.
I have seen that Hygrozyme perform F'n miracles before so I'm a believer.

HygroZyme has virtually no effect on ppm. Enzymes are specific in their function. Specific Enzymes in a growing medium can eat "dead things" removing potential areas where illness can develop.

The MANUFACTURERS website SPIEL is quoted here:

SIPCO'S "HYGROZYME" A REVOLUTIONARY BREAKTHROUGH IN HORTICULTURAL CLEANING

Sipco Industries Ltd. was incorporated in 1974 and began development/production of Enzymatic Biotechnologies over 15 years ago. Headquartered in Delta B.C., Sipco is a recognized industry leader in the development of Enzymatic formulas as "bio-solutions". Sipco's expertise spawned from its work in Marine and Wastewater Treatment, Land Reclamation, Pharmaceutical and Medical grade enzyme technologies and of course - HORTICULTURAL PRODUCTS.

When asked "is HYGROZYME just another overnight success for Sipco?" Boris Del Mar, Principal in charge of Hygrozyme Global Distribution (ltd) answered "We wish it was. HYGROZYME is the result of over 10 years of research, testing and approvals to get it to market." HYGROZYME was developed, perfected and field-tested with the help of hydro growers, farmers and industry professionals such as: members of various grower's co-ops in California, Pacific Agricultural Research Center and B.C. Research Council chemists.

HYGROZYME may well be "the greatest breakthrough in Horticulture in the last decade." Simply explained: it is developed using a proprietary bio-fermentation process, made from ALL NATURAL ingredients that produce a supply of BACTERIA-FREE enzymes and complex chains of amino acids.

With HYGROZYME there is no longer a need to introduce or create crop vulnerability by introducing a foreign germ culture to your sterile growing environment. After reviewing current enzymatic market products, it was determined that HYGROZYME actually incorporates all the benefits and capabilities offered by leading enzyme products AND MUCH, MUCH MORE - all in one Powerful Formula! With HYGROZYME though, there are NO concerns of a limited shelf life or spoilage.

INHERENT ABILITIES: CLEANER GROW MEDIUM = HAPPY PLANTS.

KEEPING GROW MEDIUMS CLEAN IS WHAT HYGROZYME IS ALL ABOUT.

CONCLUSION: IF IT WAS A RACE - HYGROZYME IS THE WINNER!
Speaking of enzymes: I have used a liquid RIDEX type septic treatment product (roto rooter branded) to decompose the old root structures that permeated a couple sq. meter mounds of used coco rootballs. I Hose end sprayer'd 'er down and essentially ignored it for a couple months. I then went and stuck a shovel in it and like magic the roots were gone. If I were playing with organic nutrients any kelps and guanos that happened to be present in that recycling pile would certainly be happily digested also and ready for reuse and "that's a good thing" as Martha Stewart would say.
IMB :)

nothing against stealthy stalks but don't over do it with products. by the way stealthy can you explain why to use this product at what levels and what it claims to do?

Some people have had problems with slime in their cloners and it seems the common denominator there was hygrozyme. That's why a lot of people will use Physan 20 to clear up problems like this one. It's one of the few things we don't own for fixing problems, but it is on my list to purchase.

However, outside of cloners, hygrozyme is the miracle worker. We have had some bigger mothers start getting root rot when we let them go too long before moving to flowering. A shot of hygrozyme in the reservoir will clear up the problem the vast majority of the time and save a plant that will eventually yield quite a few z's in flowering. We use it in flowering and veg as part of the nutrient mix we make for our plants and almost NEVER had root rot. Well really, it's only when timing keeps a mother in veg too long and it grows too big for it's container.

So I would get hygrozyme. It's pricy, but we don't have a lot of these problems. Also, adding some beneficial bacteria, such as hygrozyme or the PBP version (which we're going to try this round) from the get-go will prevent problems.

We don't use molasses, but use PBP sweet. I hear great things about molasses, but occasionally I hear of people having problems and so I'm not hot to switch things up. I can't afford any mistakes . . . .

Good luck!

i had good results in aero cloners using aqua shield by botanicare. formally known as hydrogaurd. i use this in my res all of the time, works great to keep clear of those problems and is not as pricey as hygrozyme. when i see problems[almost never] then i bust out the hygrozyme till it clears up then back to aqua shield. works great. ps, i love aero!

we actually bought some of that as a replacement for hydrobact which we were getting at alt garden. but hygrozyme is an enzyme and it literally breaks down the rotting matter and turns it into carbohydrates for the plant. we use both all the time.
