150w hps bulb in 100w ballast and starter system

Hi! i have 150w hps wired to my system because 100w is really hard to find, and 150 is much cheaper. anyways its nice and bright but i think 100w bulb was a bit brighter. so i wanted to ask, if anyone has measured how much light does 150w bulb in 100w system give? right now it looks more like 70w hps...

i know theyre different wattage bulbs but my friend had a tent growin lol... he was using a 400w hps bulb in his 600w hps ballast... i told him it would probably explode if it was used much longer so he changed it.. but the 400w was being used in the 600w ballast for alot of weeks before that... his only concern was that the plants did not get the 200w more watts of light out of it... that 400w bulb still works and so does the 600w ballast..

i cant advise the use of it but always be cautious...
