Hers the deal my computer got all screwed up with a virus apparentlly and I need to take it in to get seviced......but i'm worried about all my MJ pics saved on my computer............What should I do, will they turn me in? ect Ive heard of that happenening with child porn and such but does anyone know about all my bud shots and what not? is there a rick? do computer techs even look at pics if they fix it?

child porn is illegal to possession. pictures of cannabis aren't. So unless you have it in a folder labelled "this is what I do in my free time" or something of the like you should be okay. Now whether or not they decide to report suspicious content is another thing. I still don't think pictures are going to be probable cause unless theres something in them which directly tie them to you ie: your face. if I was you I'd just get your computer fixed. But I'm not you so I dunno what your situation is.

Just encrypt any files that you're worried about. No need to shell out for a Mac or worry about getting busted. I'm curious as to this virus though. What makes you think you have a virus? Do you have antivirus software? I've never encountered a virus that requires any drastic measures, and these companies tend to overcharge for virus removal.

yeah I can't even get it turned on anymore, I didn't have the money at the time and it kept getting worse and worse.

Thats the thing I'm worried about if they would report someone for pics of cannabis. My face or my body arnt in the pics but my grow setup is and plants and what not, there are a buch of other pics of me on the computer but not with MJ.



i thought about giving the Pc to a friend and have hime take it in just in case he can say he bought the pc off someone or something

Do youhappen to know anything about computers?

If so, chances are you can hook your hard drive up from the infected comp to your working comp as a slave drive.

Then transfer over your mj pics ONLY!! Dont transfer programs or other files, just your mj pics and then delete all your mj pics on the infected hard drive.

Then put the HD back into the old comp and bring it in for service..

With your new comp, put all mj pics on disc, cd then delete them from the computer in case this happens again.

Switching out hd is NOT hard at all if you know how to plug things in/out and label where they came from.

It is just a fun/new adventure you may try.

I wouldn't take any chances.If its just yer pics to save ...I would just take the loss and format it clean...If u wanted you could spend the cash on software ,instead of paying a shop ..Then its free everytime..Its not that hard to do ,if yer interested we could gladly post up some instructions...


Didn't read that it doesn't turn on..Laptop ? Desktop?.....Does the processor fan spin at all? If not ,try popping out ,then re- inserting the little shiny silver battery (the size of a dime).On the bottom of the left or right of the board.Then press on button and see what happens...

I don't neccasarly need to save my old info and pics. I realy just want to get it working again.

Would it be simpilar to just clean the whole thing is there a way I can reboot it and delete all the old files myself...(sorry I'm a little computer handicapped I don't know shit).

Can I just take it into the shop and tell them to clean the whole thign and not save any of the files?

and I don't need those pics I can take some new pics if need be I just don't want anyone to find the pics and turn me in. There really aren't any files on my computer that I NEED to save I just want to get the thing runnin............so I can browse ICMAg all day......i feel naked without my ICMag

it's been many moons, but i know one of the first things i/others did when going over a new machine for repair was run a search on *.jpg/*.avi/.etc, etc, etc file extensions.

they're looking for nekkid pictures of your old lady, but the reaction to your garden is up in the air. i wouldn't take it to a shop/unknown geek.

the process for clearing the drive isn't that difficult tho, particularly if you've got the installation CD for your operating system laying around.

What ya might wanna try if ya wanna save money.......

If you like/use windows xp ..go out and buy or download a bootable copy of windows xp..

Or if ya like older.. like windows 2000 or win98..go out and buy/download copy of 98 or 2000 and a
copy of the latest Norton system works no older than 2003

Take as many different drugs as you can find, to make the process run smoothly

Remove the then re-install the silver battery on the motherboard to clear the bios .

try to re-START..On startup ..the second black screen with white text..where it says press f2 or f6
or Delete to enter setup....press whatever it says to enter setup.The screen flashes up real quick
so pay attention..

Then youll see a gray and green or blue and white screen ...with 5 or 6 options at the top...use the
arrows to go accross the categories..untill you see "boot device " or just "boot"..Use the down arrow
until its highlighted and verify or change by pressing enter ...to make sure that cd-rom and not hard
drive is the 1st device in the boot order that the computer will boot from ..It should be next to number
one...the hard drive will be next to number 2 and look something like kinda like this when its the way you want it

Boot from 1 Cd-rom
2 wd-1003044 ide (hard drive)

If you know yer pc spins the cd drive before loading windows.. then you prob dont need to change anything
When thats correct press arrows over to and hit enter on exit ...Then press enter when it says
"would you like to save changes to setup and exit "


Then insert bootable win xp cd .Then Restart.....If its xp when you restart ..it should say
welcome to win xp setup..a blue screen ..It will keep asking you if you want to install now .press enter ..

It then displays the partition information ..should look kinda like this: make sure you use the arrows
or tab key so that its selected by highlighting in gray.white

It will ask the current partition "drive C: 1777758" already has widows on it ..Would you like to format
and install on this partiton ...press enter or C ..it will ask you to press either ...it walks you through it .

Then the computer will reboot ,and start installing windows xp ...Just follow the prompts .Until
it asks for the software serial number...Win xp has alot of drivers on it and will automatically install
most of your hardware ...like video card , modem ect..

If yer using win98 or win me/2000

Verify that cd-rom is 1st boot device ...like listed above .

Insert copy of norton system works...re-boot

A black sceen with with text in yellow ...white and green will show ...with 20 options

At the top it should read something like

"Norton system works 2003 Emergency Repair disk "

Then it will say press the option number of your choice and hit enter....

Look for option ..."Load windows 98 drivers with ntfs support" press # 8 or whatever the
option number then press enter

Then it will auto boot and load win 98 drivers ..

Then a screen will come up with 4 options ...Select "start computer with cd-rom support"

The cd -driver will load ....read the last paragraph of text and look for the line that says..

"Cd-rom drive = D:"

Whatever letter is says drive = D: or F:

Thats your cd-rom drive

Then at the A:/

Type Format C: should look like this A:/format C:

Then it will say "warning all data will be lost " continue format Y or N ...hit Y then enter


Then it will say formatting and count to 100 after about 10 mins..

It will then ask for a Volume label ..enter titties and beer or icmag or your name or whatever
you wanna call it.

Then it will say "needs to be restarted "

Restart with same norton disk ...select the load win 98 drivers,,,select start with cdrom support again...

The drivers load again then....

At the A:/ again ..type in Fdisk should look like this .... A:/fdisk

Then theirs 4 options ...select one by entering number 1 ,2 3 or 4

Select the one that says "create non dos - or logical drive"

Enter number hit enter ...

Then a large paragraph comes on the screen ,,basicaaly says "Do you want to enable large disk support??

Press Y and hit enter ...wait till it completes .Then restart pc with same norton disk in drive

Select win 98 drivers again ...select enable cd-rom support...

Then at the a:/ type in your cd rom drive letter like this a:/d:..hit enter

It should then look like this D:/

Then....insert your win98 or 2000 disk

at the D:/ type setup.exe ..should look like this D:/setup.exe ..hit enter

...Setup starts then just follow the prompts
and enter the serial number when asked...
