can we talk HD Sog?

Im interested to see some successful runs of HD Sog but NOT under CFLs.

I understand that it's pretty much 4" square pots @ 9/sqft and if each yields 6-10g you'll have a pretty huge yield.

Besides the legal implications...

how realistic is this in the real world? Is there are "best way" to go about this?

Id would not do this, but just want to know about it. Im sure there are some things that this system of growing can teach, even if youre not trying to do it.

I have run some large SOGS, all in 6" pots, 4 per square foot and thats the norm. I also got more than 6-10 grams per plant. I know someone here, maybe drbudgenes or something like that was huge on the 9 psf, and caught some grief over it.

IMO large scale SOG sucks, and would never ever do it again. Besides the legal issues, its just alot of work, moms, cloning etc

Sorry, not posting any pics

I do 4 plants per sq/ft in 3x3 ebb/flow, 600W HPS, 36 plant total. Clones are put straight on to 12/12.

Some people do SOG in rockwool cubes, net pots of various sizes, coco and soil. I put the clones straight into hydroton.

Each to their own.

Here's mine.

With my 3x3 table, under 1000w, that would be a piss poor yield... Numbers I have heard, are anywhere from 0.5oz to 1oz per plant. I've been curious to try a 4 psf SOG on my 3x3 table. I need to get my genes sorted first, and get some good mothers established first though. What kind of yield per plant are you getting high country? I will likely just stick to growing smaller numbers of small bushes for the time being, but i'd like to try a SOG sometime just to see how it compares.

Sorry CaptainTrips, I've never weighed. SOG's are just a hobby of mine.

Put a 1000W over that 3x3 of yours in a SOG and you should get impressive results.

I put the clones straight into 12/12, some people veg them for a bit.

A 1000W would have better light penetration than a 600W so you could veg for a week or so.

I grow a no name indica dominant plant which has minimal stretch and clones easily.

Amen to that. I tried doing an 8 light SOG, and after running ~280 plants and STILL not having anywhere near enough, I scrapped the tiny plants and started vegging for 2 weeks again.

Went from to

and went from 2-4# per crop to 9.75# with a 2 week veg.

SOG and definitely SCROG are best left for smaller scale ops in my opinion.

Lazyman, that's a nice looking grow.

I only do a small SOG cos it suits me but there are some big impressive SOG's on this site.

I think it would be a lot of work though.

i was thinking more of the High Density SOG. But keep the info coming.

LazyMan, that's interesting that you get more than double just from 2 wks of veg.

HighCountry, is that a bed of straight hydroton, no pots? Ebb n Flo?

You want to share your feed schedules? Not brands so much but more like
: feed high n through the stretch, drop N to lower amounts by X and boost pk by X:
just a general idea of what you do to max out. what's your fave additive for SOG.

Seems like for sogs with minimal veg you dont want/need too much extras for such a quick turnaround.

Yep i did note in that grow that with a 5-7 day veg, I still was short about 150 plants to have my tables filled. I was using two gallon smartpots but I was also buying clones too. So the larger crop was with 150 plants and soil, instead of 280 plants in coco. Veg time made a massive difference for me, but it's also very strain dependent. trainwreck is NOT a good SOG plant!

Feeding: I feed til I get a bit of tip burn then back it off some. veg nutes in veg, half and half for the first 3 weeks of flower, then taper off the veg nutes til its all bloom by week 5. Each strain can take different amounts of food, so try to keep the number of strains per crop as low as possible (ideally to one!)

Yep, the clones were put straight into the hydroton.

I have used net pots and large rockwool cubes in the past.

I thought I would go it differently on this run, seems to work just fine. The plants are nice and stable and no sign of them falling over.

One more thing, I start the clones on 1.5 EC bloom nutes. This is increased .1 EC each week finishing at about 2.2 EC.

I don't use any additives with the bloom nutes and am not to fussy about the brands, what ever the hydro store has available.
