Who's in the BackYard?

Who's in the BackYard?

My first ever Owl pics yielded this halfway decent shot. Owls are hard to photograph.

that's a big owl, maybe 3 feet long!

that's a big owl, maybe 3 feet long!

So cool! Do you get to see owls often on your property?

No, hardly ever SEE em, but I hear em every nite, hoot, hoot, hoot.

Last nite, I got to hootin back at em, and they had a fit, sounded like some kinda jungle cat! HOO-WHACKA-GRowl-

It was freaky!

Mainly they just sit ontop the house and make lil owls, eat mice.

Other day, I wake up to find owl puke on the hood of my car! Bones, and furs! what a gift!

Hehe Owls are so cute. Creepy at night, but mostly cute.

Free says he saw an owl that big once. I've only seen the small ones.

A 3ft long owl....(one eyebrow raised)
Was he perched in a 30ft cannabis tree?

lol...we don't see owls because they are nocturnal animals and only hang out at night. If you see one during the day, it is probably because it is very sick and disoriented, or wounded. Same with a fox, if you see one in the daytime, stay as far away as you can, as it will more than likely have rabies.

I said MAYBE 3 feet long. I don't have my Audobon Field Guide to North American Birds handy, but look it up. Owls are big. This one is bigger than most.

Every afternoon about 6 pm, an hour or so before dark, MY owls wake up and start hooting. I have a mated pair who are raising little owls. Last year's brood is still hanging with Mom N Dad owl. I hear about 4 or 5 owls every nite.

It is hard to SEE them, because they don't cooperate much. I thought a photograph was exciting and wanted to share.

This Owl had just waken up and sat on old tree. I saw him land outside through the kitchen window.

As for 30 foot Cannabis plants, they do exist. Ask Chris Payaso, the mod here! He has grown them himself. I will Give you 2 guesses as to WHERE he grew them.

As to your ATTITUDE, HoosierDaddy. I tire of it.

You seem to follow me around, telling me how inaccurate I am. Does this make you feel better about yourself?

I quit allowing people to amuse themselves at my expense when in high school. I will not sit quietly and allow you to insult me.

Is it your intention to amuse me by calling me a liar?

I do not find it amusing at all, as all I have left to my name is honor.

Further insults will be dealt with on the field of honor at dawn.

"I challenge you to a duel!!"

3 footer owls can exist..after all, they mostly hang out at night, so how could we all be REALLY sure that they DON'T exist?

In August, Owls would fly into my front yard and eat cicada several hours before dark. They would go from the trees to the ground and back up again.

Me and the dogs would be in the yard...sometimes the Owls would land ten feet away...they didn't care...they were feasting...:yay:

I am on no mission, and I did not call you a liar.
My attitude...
I don't know what you mean?
Look, you had made mention of putting a clone in the ground only to come back end of season to a 30 footer, or something of that nature. I PM'ed you, politely I might add, just to let you know that you may be exaggerating a bit on the size of the plants. I wasn't calling you out and you know it, or else I would have just made mention of it in the thread.
What I suggested was it may have actually seemed like it was that big, but in reality a 15 footer is a rarity...although quite obtainable in the right circumstances. 25-30 footers just aren't going to happen. Not in anything close to this latitude.

Now you show the owl, which I thought was a great shot and rare to boot, and when you said a 3 footer, I just found it funny that's all. I though maybe you would too...but perhaps you really do think your estimations are more spot on than what I am claiming things are in reality. (shrug)

Oh come on you know you were trying to make me look stupid.

Once again, 30 footers have been GROWN by Chris Payaso, a mod here who helps publish the Jorge Cervantes books.... maybe you should ask him about 30 footers.

Since you don't believe I have grown one, maybe you will believe Payaso when he sez he has grown a 30 footer.

Too bad that Outdoor plant got ripped, no frost here yet, and the days is gettin warmer!

Durn, setting out first of March was risky, but it would have worked this time.

I will go measure the stump the bird was sitting on, and post the photos, that will have to be as close as possible to measuring fromthe pic posted. If you want, you can send both of them in for forensic analysis.
