Communes for aging stoners...?

Hello friends!

And to the point:

Perhaps the hippie commune experience was tainted by too much youth and hormones... Faking the funk just to get laid you see...

Or simply as Shaw said: Youth is wasted on the young

But as I have matured I started to wonder if the commune spirit is better saved for the golden years.

I can picture somewhere in WA or OR a rural commune with Mature (55 and up) and self-centered folks trying to just live their last years as decent and honestly as possible with themselves and Earth.

Perhaps older and wiser we could make it work...

Many blessings!

Ojo

My mom would also be very interested in something like this. She's been talking about setting up a geezer commune for a while now, and this year is her first year of eligibility (if 55 is your start point). I hope y'all come up with something soon, because she is nowhere near organized enough to do it herself.

Hello Humble1,

I use 55 years as an example... but I am 42 myself.

Let's say mature and centered

NO DRAMA WHATSOEVER!!!!

Commune is not the same as Mental Institution nor Trailer Park.

NO Gurus, NO Social parasites...

People would be voted in after an actual time living and WORKING on site.

NO ONE is taken on face value.

Sounds like good idea Ojo ..there's still a few of these in the us.Their more of a community of sorts..One i believe is in Tennessee....run by a deadhead now in his 60's ...can't remeber his name..but he's written several books ...and formed a interesting community based on his ideas...alot of art and activities....

I often think about this...

Mostly because i fancy the idea of Sustainability & Livin In Tune with Nature.

Really not sure about the rest. I went to a Rainbow Gathering and their were people from communes, even ones that were on the road part and full time. It wasn't always in sync lol

I do see myself livin closer to Nature, dunno bout commune style though.

I couldn't live in a commune myself. I agree with Humble1 that this is probably down my mother's ally though.

I think you're referring to The Farm and Stephen Gaskin.

old men fake the funk all the time to get in the ladies' pants; it is not a young or old thing really...

how many university/college professors are into that? like 95% of them?

good luck finding a community where such kind are not around... maybe in the next life.

much peace

OK commune is NOT the word!

Cannabis friendly retired community or Living Co-op for MMJ?

The concept of helping other fellow old stoners is what matters.

Played around with the commune thing back in the 60's but it seemed like they always ended badly. People were continually getting into fights about who was supposed to do the dishes.

Formed my own commune that works pretty well. Just my wife, a cat, a pet crow, two peacocks and some chickens. In fact, I'm late for our evening meeting right now.

Mostly he mumbles.

Found him as a baby with broken wing and we've been nursing him back to health. Could be a problem when he's healthy because he hasn't learned how to fend for himself. Doubt he would survive if I just let him go. They really do learn a lot from their parents regarding survival.

Thanks Robereno,

They are remarkable birds, very smart and for many peoples of the world they are messengers from the beyond.

Compassion is the key!

He'll be happy to live with your family... I am sure!

I think that Cheech n Chong touched on this in 'Nice Dreams'
when it was suggested they open a place for old hippies that
would perhaps be known as 'Groovy Manor'.......

BINGO!

Some of us are divorced, widowers or decided to live the last years single and celibate... Not as uncommon as many might think...

They are called Sadhus...

I sometimes consider myself a semi-Sadhu...

I'll do the cooking, vehicle maintenance, IT work, and growroom setup/maintenance, but someone else has to do the fucking dishes. I've been a dishwasher at a huge hotel and did more dishes before I was 16 than most of you will ever see in your lives, lol.
