im runnin with Collibri now, but cause its more easy t get here for me. i have only tryed Collibri and some other crap tane brands such as Clipper or Extra.
Well I have been busy the last few days making BHO. Im not sure what kind of a return I should be getting. I used 3oz and got 10g of very good quality oil. I still have 6 more oz I could use but the return is well it sucks. All you guys that make this all the time what is a normal return or is this a strain dependent thing.
those are not tane bubs. I do use heat to put into the viles. The purge was 48hrs and then heated and scraped. The bubs are from heating the viles makes the oil boil a bit then when it cools air gets trapped at the top. I found this chart on another sithe. These # seem high?
Plant Material-|-Recommended amount Butane-|-Estimated Yield
1oz High quality bud-|-12oz-|-3-6g
1oz Average bud-|-10oz-|-2-4g
1oz low grade bud-|-9oz-|-2-3g
1oz high quality trim leaves-|-12oz-|-3-5g
1oz trim & leaves-|-10oz-|-2-4g
1oz fan leaves-|-8oz-|-1-2g
THC will form gas bubbles as well, and i use colibri too . Also how long did you purge for hammerhead ? All the oil ive made over the years turns hard , but gets soft when you touch it in ur hand. But as long as it tastes good im sure it is.
he said he purged for 48 hours. a bit overkill. that chart is pretty good , except two full cans for an oz of bud. thats a bit much. second can will only get you like 0.5 at most.
those where the small cans of colibri not 320ml. I think this is why my yield was low. The oil is semi hard it wont come out unless you heat it. I should have used 3 cans. I have a case of Vector on the way those cans are 320ml. I purged for a long time because there was 4 runs in the dish and it seemed to take a long time to purge so I just left it.
i never do multiple runs in the same dish, unless i scrape the dish first.
i purge in hot water for over 5 mins and then low low(warming) on the stove for maybe 1 hour tops.
yes I also use hot/warm water. I just got lazy but I dont think it will hurt my yield by doing it like this. I just have so much to make and having to stop and scrap every run it would take me a week at least.
1 pound cured popcorn, 16 tubes of tane, three hours of evaperation, 2 ounces ten grams................ thats the first time i tried BHO kinda like the stuff,,, HHB
ps. we used a quisinart ta grind it first, ran it thru the three tube extractor...
I think the biggest problem people have with yields is their perception of quality bud. To me quality is all about what your final yield is going to be. When you here myself and HMK talking about getting 25 and 26% yields, we're talking seriously frosty bud. We both use bud and I know mine looks like it's been dipped in sugar. Without seeing what quality bud or trim you have it's hard for us to say "yeah your yeild is low". You can always rerun it if you don't think you got everything.
grind them up!! or cut them in small pices!! i can not understand why it will make a dif. in quality....only the trims will be wash out!!
i noticed when i did not grind them up, the trimms inside the buds were all sill there after the bho rum....btw i use 3 cans per run!!!
if you grind it up your oil is much darker and tastes crappier by far. cutting into chunks and other manual seperation methods that dont produce a o lot of powedered material will produce oil pretty much exactly the same as whole bud. the more powder you have, the darker the oil. dont grind your oil if you want it to be tasty.
