Think twice about growing in San Fran....

Heard some disturbing shit from my old neighborhood in SF....apparently the local police captain busted 3 grows last month and he put out a page story about it asking for citizens to snitch on pot growers.

http://www.sfrichmondreview.com/archives/richmondreview/2010editions/April10/potbust.html

he said.. "If you see anything unusual in your neighborhood, which sometimes may just be a lack of usual activity at a residence coupled with a strange smell, please call Lt Mark Mahoney (415) 666-3042..he goes on talking about how these grows could cause massive fires that destroy houses and "numerous elementary schools in the area"...unbelievable...he quoted the fire marshall as saying "One fire official insisted on immediate action because the structure was too dangerous to send firefighters inside during event of fire"

all the houses look like this so they are pretty close together so i guess fire hazard is more but still....sounds like some scare tactics to me...my dad was all arguing with me cus "even if pots legal these grows are dangerous because they violate code!"

fucking sad my old neighborhood is doing shit like that...encouraging people to spy and snitch on eachother.

This is in San Francisco too one of most pot friendly cities in Cali until that new cheif gascon from arizona took over...almost 50 busts in the avenues last year alone..fucking un believable!

at least the judges down at 850 keep throwing out cases though...but it makes all those frmo outta state who think calis some sacred promised land free of police prosecution is false...even if you got paperwork they will still tear down your shit and throw you through the process....if you wanna grow in california i recommend Oakland...but be careful there too my friend got busted earlier this year for a 10kw grow

Um. I think your dad's right. Honestly, a trip through the growrooms pictured online should inform you that a high percentage include blatant code violations. Beyond the actual "code," I see a lot of things that I'd consider dangerous as hell. If I ever lived in a city again, I'd be scared shit less of my neighbor growing.

That said, this is a ridiculous way to address the problem.

Sorry to hear about that bust in Oak - could you give some details? I have a friend out there and would like to give him a head's up.

ehh cant say that much details...plant count over 2x limit last i heard they dropped pot with intent to distribute charges but they got him on a gun charge. my advice is make sure any guns in the house are legal and registered to you...keep your burners buried in the forest. and deny involvement in any grow blame it on an imaginary roomate.

the most interesting SF bust was the one that got posted in another thread...two guys got caught growing 70 had their case thrown out...

Man, all those pics got me all flush with memories from the long distant past. It has got me all wrapped up in song:

When the HIDs soft start in the city
and HPS orange shines down on my babes
I wanna be there in my city

So you think you're jonesing
Well my friend, I'm jonesing too
I want to do fat bong rips in my city by they bay...

Damn if I am not california dreamin' again. I'd come back, but it looks like I am 10 years too late...

Having spent a few nights in some of the older buildings in San Francisco I can say there is a goodly point of taxing the electrical in some of the buildings.
Those old buildings still have the old ceramic "hubs" and single wire runs in the walls. In Theory it could heat up and possibly cause a fire even with just the T.V. running so there is a general concern for electric loads.

Where They went wrong is singling out one high amperage usage as the only evil.

Any grower reading should run their own circuit or have some qualified person do this. You see there is a relationship of electric, heat and wire size that has to be respected.

So If I was the Fire Martial Bill of S.F. I would have warned the growers and offered free "No Arrest" inspections of electrics and would honor the "No Arrest" part so I could make sure public safety was my mission and not law enforcement..

But we do have folks in Offices that don't think and are paid well for that as well.
