Nice work FS,
Way to keep at it, Lookn great!
I'll have to see how this turns out!D

-SD

Thanks for watching SD.

So I'm a little late with my update. Been busy and such, even missed a watering here and there this week. (Shhh) But none the less here it is. The end of week four and my new "odor sock" carbon scrubber thingy. Thanks to the link'o rama in the grow design section I now have a device which cuts the smell down by atleast 80%.

I'm still using the lucas formula in diminished form. Instead of the 5-10ml ratio of micro and bloom (gh flora series) i'm using 2.5ml-10ml. In my earlier writings I might have said that I would do a 3 week flush. Well that has changed now that I've read up more on flushing and how it affects the grow. I'm still going to do a flush, but it will probably only be about 1 week to a few days instead. I haven't decided yet. Blah BLah blah i know here are the pics. Enjoi!!

Thorough Update @ Week5

Thorough Update @ Week5

great work so far.
sitting in this one till the end.

I need that encouragement man, thanks.:thank you:

I've got the biggest Update ever this time around. But first let me explain some adjustments, and future thoughts :chin:

I've added in the nitrogen back into the formula @ 3ml-10ml ratio. Since doing this, I've noticed the plants get stinkier again. If they like it, then so do I. Seems like Grand daddy purple likes the nitrogen heavy. Maybe that's why a Good veg. state is recommended. I've got two lady's in small 1.75 liter pots, and one lady in a 2 gallon pot roughly. Obviously the bigger pot has the bigger girl. This evidence leads me to emphasize the importance of root structure. Next grow I'm investing in air pots. "http://www.airpotgarden.com/store/index.php?app=gbu0&ns=prodshow&ref=7L5Pack"

On the topic of sentiment and retrospect, I've got some things to say that may be Helpful to those looking to design a Lifeless lab and/or rubber maid.

The LL Cab is fun and easy to build.
I like the way this grow went as far as plant growth and steady vigor. It can adequately produce buds while safely tucked away in a closet (which some times is all we have). Get your drill ready, hook up some cheap PC fans + Lights, flip those maids, and away you go. Once the grow factors are locked in (lights, Nutrients, Plants, soil) it's a matter of achieving ample air flow, sealing light leaks, and controlling odor. Other than that just let the plants do their thing. Simple, great, and CHEAP.

While I praise the capabilities, I feel I must also provide some of the drawbacks with this set-up to give a well rounded perspective.
Such as the following: Watering, Odor control, and space. With my watering methods I had to take all the plants out of the box, water them, and put them back inside. Very tedious and labor intensive. Now I understand why people invented drip systems with reservoirs. In case you're wondering; I could not water and let the stagnant H20 sit because of mold issues. I was thinking of installing a small pump inside the box to pump the run off out, but that would just be to much for this cab. Its made to be simple and portable.
With odor, I have cut back noticeable smell by 80% with a simple odor "sock" and if I put more effort into building a real "pro" style carbon filter I'm sure it would suffice for Cfl's. Thing is you have to compromise stealth or grow room. The odor device sits either inside or outside the box, if outside it's no longer stealthy. If it sits inside, you loose some grow space which is hard to come by. I opted for thinking outside the box. The space issue I speak of is only being able to fit 3-4 plants comfortably. I like the compact design, but I prefer to offer some "elbow room" to the plants for comfort. Light penetration is an issue here unless you trim liberally and frequently. The tops are monstrous for Cfl's but the bottom pop corn buds are worthless.

Overall I did enjoy My Lifeless lab.
I will surely continue to use the cab for vegetative/clones/Moms but, truth be told I'm already looking into 600w Hps systems and Secret Jardin grow tents. Another thing is, if I ever want to stop growing I'll probably end up selling the Hps and grow tent and fans and shit. But I don't know that I would sell my lifeless lab. It's got so much personality from being a DIY project, and besides it looks so chill as a Rubbermaid next to any other storage items I have..

Hope you enjoyed my Two Cents. Thanks for reading -Fresh

Nice grow Fresh, and thanks for peekin in on mine. I had my fans on with my light timer in my pc too, but I've had overwatering problems (among others) so I'm gonna switch the fans to run all day too, see if the extra airflow can help it dry out. The only thing I'm worried about is the temp dropping too low, the intake for my PC is right below a window so if the lights aren't on to warm the box, the intake air is gonna be pretty cold. Oh well, I'll give it a go. Props again.

Lovin' this grow. Those budshots are lookin chunky n funky man. =) I think the u.s. gov't is going to have to legalize cannabis or ban rubbermaids at the rate these setups are poppin' up.

What's up with your odor sock? (that sounds so vulgar!) I'd like to get a good peek at it, maybe it's hiding in a pic. I'm looking for the simplest solution for my tubs at the moment.

Cheers!

Hey basspirate, check this little guy out. It's the basic idea I'm gonna use when I get around to building a flower cab, and I think it'd work great for your rubber maiden.

Thanks Glimm! This looks like a good idea. I never get how they mount that shit onto the fan. I am paranoid as my buddy and I were runnin a 70w cab with some grapefruit bubba kush in it a few years ago-that shit fell off one day and my whole house was /stankin/. It wasn't that same design, but similar. I like the pencil cans!!

Nevertheless, I shall adorn the maiden with the finest diy scrubber this lowly tailor can fashion. hehe. Cheers, cap'n!

I would not reccomend the odor sock method. It still stinks my house up. If you are gonna go DIY then do yourself the justice of producing a quality product. Like this one here: http://cgi.ebay.com/1-lb-BEST-qualit...item439c260075

The problem with scrubbers is mounting them some how which is done with either 1) lots'o tape or 2) properly fitted ducting adapters and a little tape. which ever you feel is best. I used a dryer hose expansion adapter to mount the scrubber sock to the rubber maid. (you'll need a drill and some patience for this method)

Alright fellas good luck

Thanks fresh. That ebay item was removed though. Bummer. What was it?

I'm thinkin about makin a diy scrubber and supplementing with a bucket of ona with a fan blowin on it.

Gotta keep that Smell tight or the Man's gonna win the Fight!

I'd like to see this laundry hose setup too. I'm in a closet and don't give a fuck about stealth...if anyone gets in my locked bedroom closet and starts lookin around, I am done no matter.

Its all done!

Its all done!

Every thing dried and cured nicely. Purple as can be I say. Yielded just over 2 oz. (69.8 grams) pretty good I say for 3 plants under 160 watt cfls. That comes out to .43 grams per watt. A good yield. Could be done better with a scrog I think. Here are the pictures to satisfy any would be lifeless growers. Vive Le resistance!
