Hey SD, I saw your setup, looks good but I have notes. I preface this with "Im not trying to be an ass" lol

Pointers:

LIGHT
Ok, so you need to stop wasting light. Go over to Vons, get some turkey pans and make reflectors for those bulbs, you're literally wasting half the light right now.

If you wanna be "high end" about it like I did, get mylar and wrap it around two planks of wood, and attach the security light fixtures to the boards.

Right now you have 15 bulbs (if I counted right), 4 of which are aimed at the side of the plant. I would actually recommend a plank of wood with a cheap home depot "bathroom strip vanity light" fixture attached to it, (also connected to chains) which moves with the plants. Hell you could make 2 and surround the plants in light, top/bottom/sides.

SAFETY
We gotta get you some generic home improvement store chain and some "j" hooks. I cant have you hanging lights with cord and tape, its a liability and not as reliable.

thanks voodoo always appreciating pointers! yeah i thought i needed something over the light to reflect it down. do i need the wood if there are bars at the top of the tent to hang from? i dont really get what your sayin about the wood, could you maybe explain better? u think the cords and electrical tape is that bad? they are very sturdy/not going to fall, but yea its kinda sketch. my lights are kind weird and cant really attach to j hooks. or they prob can i dont know how though? sorry for all newb barn questions. u like how the plants look in the tent? haha. i do. they are pretty healthy yeah? flowering is laggin but with ur tips hopefully it speeds up!!!! thanks voodoo ur a homie.

hey sd you want those lights as close as possible to each other and the plants and whats at the very center of those y sockets were the wire comes out
normaly i would take a power strip and get 4 or 5 y sockets and the adapter for a light the plug strait in to the power strip
plug the y socket and adapter into strip and wala your set and the wood is just for somthing hard to use as a reflector you dont need that your tent roof is shiny just rais your lights to the top and then raise the plants to the light

If you are gonna go like it is, yea get some tin pans or something and make reflectors. Another idea is to lower the lights till they are in between plants like a vertical grow. You can hardly burn the plants with that little power.

When they flower you will be glad of the filter.

yeah SB.J why are u so bitter towards my setup? u lurked both my pages and talked shit. tell me why this setup is going to fail if your so knowledgeable? besides the CFL's. which work well if done correctly.

Simply ignore all naysayers.

There's nothing wrong with using CFLs if you can't, for WHATEVER reason, use an HID.
More power to you!

You'll definitely want to bring those lights as close to your plants as you can without burning them and also get some reflectors in there. I've seen diy soda can mini reflectors that fit over individual cfls, there are many ways to make reflectors, but the bottom line is that any reflector is better than none.
Eventually you will most likely need some sort of filter/mask for the smell, there are many ways of doing this too.
Your plants look healthy enough so it's only a matter of fine tuning efficiency so you can get the most out of your set up.

Soo i upgraded to a 250 W sunlight supply inc HPS . Saw it on craigslist for $100 and couldnt pass it up. The plants looked very good last night. i watered them each with 1/2 gallon and 1 tsp of nutes each, then put them under the new light for the 12hrs. cant wait to see how much they boosted!!! lights go back on tonight at 9:30 and ill take some pics. the CFLS were working great though plants are really healthy and i could see white hairs around where buds are going to form. definitely something i want to experiment with in the future and will always use CFLs for veg. also i am going to make a new journal for this since its new lights and not that micro anymore. ill post the link for the new journal later once i have some pics

You are going to love the JillyBean. I grew it out last time and everyone i know enjoyed it.


I dont know why there is all the hate for cfls. I used to grow with them in a Rubbermade tub Redgreenery style, I would consistently pull 2 - 3 oz of good buds. The only reason i switched to hps for flowering is that i got a deal on a 400 with cool tube and was sick of the tubs. CFL is a excellent place for a new grower to start.

I still use cfl to veg. They work great.

I thought that all the hate had transfered from CFL to LED. HAHA

heres the new pics of the 250 watt hps sunlight supply inc. Its hanging on the side top poles of my tent, do u think that is sketchy? if it is what shoudl i do? the plants are loving the new light though. i also put in a nug of some dank kush im chiefing on

dude no hate for cfls just hate fore some one that thinks they can grow a pound with 10 cfls
when i first read this thread i thought sd was trying to do a 600w's job with cfls cuz the size of his tent but then he explained that he was only using such a big tent cuz he did not want to exhoust
so get it right i started with cfls

im in love with it though and your poles on the tent will hold as long as there metel ar really sturdy
how much did you pay for the tent and the light if you dont mind me asking

82 plus shipping for the tent on amazon, 100 for the light on craigslist. the poles are metal and it feels semi sturdy

asstastic, I wasn't directing that at you. Just in general. More to users like SB.J that just seem to be trolling. Most of the people in this thread seem to be helpful including yourself.

SanDiegrow, that seems like a pretty good deal for a tent.

oh ok if you read what i first posted i was like wtf !#&^%& and that didnt get a good reaction so i figured your bringing it up again


thats a preaty good deal 180 for you set up how about fans did you have to buy or did you already have them
just wondering cuz your torn over in nugs will be amazing compaired to how much you would have paid if you just bought the weed
and your light will be fine i looked at your tent and and those polls are plenty stirdy probly stronger than the chain 400s hang from

FYI: they already test for it if you get pulled over for a D.U.I and the cops suspect that you have been smoking (even if you have your medical permit you cannot drive while you are under the influence of cannabis), also if you haven't notice they have been passing more and more regulations for medical marijuana distribution- it may seem cool now but don't expect it to last at the current rate. Don't be a fool and get out and vote! Let everyone enjoy the beauty of cannabis.

I agree with you about having residency requirements. However natives are getting harder to find here in California. I have been here for roughly 25 years and all but a handful of natives i know have moved to AZ, UT, NM, NV, WA, CO or OR. You truely are a scarce breed. HAHA

I said in another thread that SO Cal cops will hardly ever mess with you over possesion of cannabis. There is just to much of it and they are to lazy to do the paperwork. I do think they will jack you from time to time and keep your stash for personal. lol
