looking for info on native Ukrainian cannabis which can get you high

So far as i know is the native drug Cannabis you're talking escaped in the past from hemp plantations.They had varieties with appr 1-2% THC & 5% CBD.I dont think you can find drug Cannabis like in India, Nepal etc.

Indeed, Ukraine and large areas of Western Russia have been growing hemp during centuries, notably to make rope for the British Empire ships. And one can only guess about the huge amount of escaped individuals.
Were the fiber strains grown in Ukraine obtained from local selected landraces or were they imported from another area of Russina Empire like Baltic States ?

Hehe well actually Chernobyl and Cannabis are related in an interesting way.

In 1998, Phytotech, along with Consolidated Growers and Processors (CGP) and the Ukraine's Institute of Bast Crops, planted industrial hemp, Cannabis sp., for the purpose of removing contaminants near the Chernobyl site.

I have also heard stoner legends about hash being made from these plants and then sold on the streets with the name Chernobyl. Unlikely to be true but who knows.

A Ukranian friend who lives in london now told me that 6 years ago he smoked and re-planted seeds of wild weed over there that had plenty crystal and definately worked better than common hemp... with decent crystal cover that made sticky finger hash...But he said the taste wasn't good and the high not that great or strong either,but still gave them the munchies! He didn't seem massively impressed with it to be honest.....
The wild plants in Serbia and Montenegro are a little better than that in my experience and according to others I've spoken to its still there in small patches.That stuff was almost potent and had thick smoke! Was People walking about with shopping bags of the stuff in late summer-autumn when I was there in 2001/3 JBo ;]

Interesting. But was it actually from Chernobyl or for example just some really poor Moroccan or "western Moroccan-derivative"? I can easily see a legend being born from something that was originally just a name...

I was in Ukraine last fall collecting seeds,, or was supposed to be, didn't find any in the more humid northern part of the country. You have to go further south to find the native ruderalis plants where they spread across the Ukrainian steppes, through Hungary and the Balkans, most of them will be high cbd, not ideal for smoking. The quality starts going up the further south you go. Most of the hemp grown in the area originated from Central Russian stocks but I doubt they had a great impact on the native type which goes way way back and is superior in spreading it's seeds. The plants grown by smokers are not ruderalis, but localized drug varieties.

unfortunately i don`t have any pics at the moment so i can`t show you guys but i`ll try to find it... this plants can grow pretty big. i know some guys who have grown 3-4 m height monsters structure something between sat/indi... bushy plants with thing leaves dark/mid green color. buds can be pretty sticky with medium size... in most cases stinky especially during smoking smells something like burnt rags. it get you stoned and stupid with uncontrolable laughing in first 1-2 hours. effect lasts about 2-3 hours sometimes 4 hours after that you becoming lazy, stupid peace of shit with heavy feet for my opinion it doesn`t worth to grow it but if someone want to try it i think best place for that Crimea, this is only one best place in Ukraine for searching some nice smoke. i know one guy who have some killer crimean landrace as i know, so if someone interested i can contact him

Well you can look in Greece where you have some landraces.Kalamata & Crete you can find some varieties.

Kalamata variety (Colombian or SE-Asian origin)

Variety from Crete (Lebanese & Highland Thai genes)

About Ukrainian cannabis, KC Brains used a Ukrainian variety for his KC33 strain.
This is my Ukrainian experiment BTW, crossed it with a Danish Gold

Also in 20 century in to USSR territory was imported a lot of potent strains from varios countries for big yield in hemp industry. But now them lost % of THC.
