"Ill never do that agan"; The ultimate list of no no's

Every grower here with more than a few grows under their belt has made a major growing mistake that was discovered after the damage was done. Lets make a list of them:

1. Never will i plant without snail bait: I found out about my 3rd crop that the easiest and fastest way to loose your crop around here is to plant seedlings without snail protection. 1 in 10 might survive to reach a 1' tall. Most are toast within a week.

2. Ill never use organic nutes! A few years ago i decided to grow completely organic. I filled my holes with rich soil and organic nutes. I had to replant every plant i had at least 5 times, and i only harvested about 6 plants. The rest were dug up over and over again by every racoon, oppossum, skunk, deer, and mink that passed by them. Once i replanted on friday evening and on saturday evening every plant had been dug up! It was a terrible experience. Never again.

Whatcha got?

Well, D.S. Toker, I will never grow on the upland again. As I pointed out in new thread on growing in bogs, I learned that everything can go wrong there...all the animals, rippers etc.

When I started growing in seven gallon buckets in the wet, my growing took the biggest leap of all. Ferts and soil matter, but big buds need healthy plants, and cannabis is so smart, its roots go down and take exactly what is necessary for success.

My preverius and first grow ever, i left my plants without any deer protection. :cathug:Even though i had signs of them eating a few tips of the plants a few weeks earlier, before it was completley eaten.:moon:

Outdoors: I'll never plant seedlings without slug protection again.

Indoors: I'll never grow a smelly strain again without making sure my grow room is well sealed with airflow and ventilation fully controlled.

I will only stick with what I know - outdoor growing where you can only visit plants ever 7-10 days is no place to start mucking about with new growing mediums, fertilizers and all that.

I will never again be so free with my harvest that someone I help out comes to my house and rips off all the rest. I will never again be unarmed when they come back a few nights later, thinking I'm not home, for my guitars and other valuables.

when changing or adding new fert's from now on I'll start at half the recommendation then work my way up. Decided to cut all my ferts in half.

Went with a new strain and feeding program and my yield dropped in half, grown this variety before never so brutal of a return.

hi, i'm aware of the snail problem and im gonna start my first guerrilla grow, i'm gonna take the small seedlings out to the forest and i wanted to know if you guys think using bottles cut in half, half full of beer should be enough to keep my babies safe from them until they grow taller and stronger???

thanks in advance!!!

There are some good no no's here.

Ganjaman, that idea might work for the snail/slugs, but its really more work and expense than necessary. A bag of "Snail Bait" is only $8 and a few granuals spread around the roots will kill all comers for 2-3 weeks per applidation. Even cheaper, a bag of construction sand is $4 and a cup full around the base of the plant gaurantees they wont attack. The sand sticks in their mucous and they wont cross it.

I have another one i learned the hard way

I will never pregrow plants and then cut the lights back to force a preflower. Several years ago, i couldnt understand why my plants were finishing so much later than they were supposed to. Then i read an article in High Times in which the author conducted a number of experiments using this method and every test had the same results. The plants that had been forced to show a preflower went into real flower consistently 2 weeks or more later than plants grown under normal lighting.

I tried the test myself. Never again

With only 2 outdoor partial successes, I'm still learning.

1. Will never grow in an area where I have to walk down an embankment leading to a flood plain.

2. Will never just pop the seeds in the ground. Wasted about $1000.00 in seeds last year. 200 White Widow seeds. No harvest.

3. Will never grow 90 miles away from home. Can you say, duh?

1. never open the door for the cops

2. never bring moldy bud to trim near my grow rooms....ruined a crop that way!

3. Leave my house unlocked while I go to the grocery store with 5lbs in a duffle bag and 2k$ on my table..... FUCK!
