126 Watt LED Test Featuring Ice

I'm a bit skeptical on the LED thing also. My local hydro guy won't even stock them because of the test results his customers, and himself had. When he finds some that work as claimed, he said then he would start selling them again.

Most grows I've seen here, and elsewhere, all seem to hit the magic 1g/w+, but most never seem to be able to get over 4oz or so. Whereas there's MANY documented HID grows that may barely hit the .5g/w mark, but easily double overall yield. I personally yield 2oz+ per plant (multiple strains) with a 400 CMH and usually 2-3 weeks veg time. Only way I see to match the overall yield of HID is with multiple panels, and at $400 or so each for smaller ones? "OUCH".

So far, Hazy's grow seems to be the best comparo I've seen yet. HID seems to be winning, but the LED is holding its own. Might be the one to turn the tide? Another point. I also don't care for HPS. CMH or Hortilux Blue are THE best HID bulbs IMO.

Nice looking plants Sleepy. Look dank fo sho. Not slamming you, but the results so far are very so-so at best. Keep it up and make me eat my words!

Ice from FMS: The ICE ® is a selected pheno out of a Skunk Special X White Widow cross, back in '96. She was selected out of 500 females, because she had best of both sides. The enormous buds of the Skunk Special, the trich coverage and power of the White Widow, with an Indica look.

Skunk and WW should be a good to heavy yielding cross. Notice i said "should".

i took some pics last night, and will be uploading them and posting an update later.

i have been surprised with all the posts here that don't really relate to my test...that is why i have not been posting much here. i am tempted to move all non-test related posts to LEDgirl's vendor forum, but i don't feel like doing that, either...

today is my birthday, and i am going fishing with an old friend.

the buds are swelling and i had to stake one of the plants the other day...i may just hit a gram per watt for the first time.:jump:

we shall see.

Been lurking this LED show and I`m impressed and kinda confused at the same time...
They do seem to work but....there seems to be a few things that one got to do differently from HPS or HID.
Could you give any pointers?

observations:

they aren't as large as the colas i am used to harvesting with the 400 watt HPS, but they are quite dense. to hit the one gram per watt mark, i will need to have 4.44 onces of bone dry bud...if my math and online conversion is correct. that is 1.11 ounces per plant...i have consistently gotten an ounce per plant with my HPS...but i don't think i came close to the one gram per watt mark...

so i have a simple request...if you would like to post here about my test, please do so...be my guest. if you would like to ask technical questions, or have some other issues, post it in the appropriate forum/sub-forum.

They look absolutely beautiful, Sleepy. When comparing my LR#2 to a fellow patient's Gigabud, we noticed the density was about the same. How are the trichs looking?

Seems to me if a guy was able to grow some buds with no concern at all for heat which gives him or her the ability to put it ANYWHERE and still get smoke able bud for it that would be a good thing.

Sleepy is a MOD here folks and is simply doing a test for YOU to see what it does. Some of you better understand that REAL QUICK or your stay here will be VERY SHORT. He does not sell them he does not make them so all he can say is yes it grows bud no it doesn't so leave you rude snide ass comments to yourselves OR BE GONE WITH YA TODAY.

Sleepy has NEVER ONCE said the 126 WILL grow out like a 400 watter. He is simply seeing what is does as a SERVICE for you all.

Any idea what strain that is? Been following by the way I'm a new grower still planning m first grow and I clearly see the benefits of LEDs!

I'm a light smoker and only wanted one plant for personal use so I set up a 126 watt LED and used a 6 gallon bucket with dual airstones and waterpump which both ran continuously.
  • Dinafem Roadrunner Feminized
  • Dutchmaster Gold, supplemented by a little CalMag then Final Phase followed by 7 days RO water.
  • Used 3/4 strength until the second half of flowering then mixed at full strength and a little heavy on the Phosphorus
  • 126 watt HGL LED (12 lights went out 8 days from finish - I think I lost one of the wavelengths because the ones that went out were in the same position in each bank; so I supplemented with 2 x 68 watt CFLs for the last 8 days)
  • RODI water the whole way, weekly airbaths and reservoir cleaning
  • Water temp stayed in the 80s the whole ride (couldn't keep it at my 65F target)
  • Oversized dehumidifier kept things in the 10-20% range for flowering
  • 2 x 2 tent with 80 SCFM inline fan and 4" carbon filter
