Ways To Save Money Thread

when you see non perishables on offer and its a good offer... buy as many of whatever it is as you can afford/think wise/carry home

buy skins/rolling papers in bulk (20 euros per box of 50 packs - or 1 euro plus per pack)

buy nutes in quantity... some of them can be up to half price when you buy 10 liters as opposed to 1.

if you have a cell/mobile phone - call your company and tell them you need a new plan because their competitors give more free minutes and haggle for a better deal.. if you're on pre-pay .. get a plan, its way way cheaper

make sure you're using up your trim in whatever way (hash/edibles) stretches the stash and saves more $$

if you're a beer drinker, try a cheaper brand... most of them are awful but there's a few that are ok if you can find them... again 50% savings on brand names (I buy "scutters"..made by one of the reputable dutch breweries for a supermarket chain - half the price of heineken - and I actually prefer it)

as above, invite peolpe over for drinks rather than going to bars n clubs.. for the most part the music is always better AND you can toke ;)

if you use public transport a lot, look into week/month/year tickets... sometimes worth a go..

limit PC/washing machine/heavy electrical use to cheap/off peak rates if you have such a thing... if you don't and your power company does split rates, enquire as you might be able to save money by flowering during night time/off peak hours)

oh and instead of having an actual real life, hang out here at IC the whole time, I save a fortune :D

;)

+1 on the bar/nightclub thing. My GF likes to hit the bars up every so often and I tell her it's cheaper to stay home and have folks over. Listen to what you want to listen to or watch a movie, smoke herb when you want and eat what you want. No bill, lousy food, overcrowded spaces, and no tobacco smoke.....I hate cigs.

check your market for their coupon redeeming. My local chain offers triple on coupons up to 50 cents and double on coupons over 50 cents to a dollar. i.e. If an item is $2 and I have a coupon for 50 cents off, after it's tripled I just payed 50 cents for that item.

after all these blizzards we had here in the east, you can make extra money cutting down the trees that were damaged and then you have wood to use or sell on top of the $$ made for the cutting.

IMHO unless you live in places like NYC or SF, relying solely on public transit is a real nightmare and can really put a crimp on your life.

A little overboard with the shower in the lake and shit bro.

I mean really is it worth the extra $25 a month when you start sacrificing your on personal hygiene.

We all could save loads of money if we cut out like toothpaste, face wash, body wash, shampoo. But in the end it isnt worth it, you gotta spend money on things that are worth it.

I'm not a coupon clipper, but man, for the last decade or so in California I've never heard of "double coupons" or anything but face-value. I know that kind of thing used to be the norm when I lived on the East.

If you have a gym membership, shower at the gym. This is especially helpful if you're one of those people who like to take hour showers (you know who you are). Also, if you're not using it, maybe it's time to cancel.

Reevaluate your car insurance needs. If it's old, it's probably not worth much and you probably would do fine with liability only.

Drive with a light foot, my car is rated at 28mpg highway and I can get almost 32mpg out if it when I'm feathering the gas. That's a 14% improvement/savings in fuel (and my car is 10 years old).

Wash your car by hand. That $9 touchless car wash isn't as good and it was $9.00!

Hang clothes to dry so you don't have to run your dryer. Don't waste energy washing or drying small size loads, always wash large loads.

Check to see if any of your neighbors have a router with no password, "borrow" their internet connection (I'm that guy, steal my internet). If you're friendly with your neighbors maybe you could even talk about sharing the cost of internet so you don't feel bad while "borrowing."

When making a purchase, research what you're buying to make sure it's a quality product. I find that it typically pays off to do some research and be willing to pay a bit more for a product that will last a long time.

Whatever you're looking to buy can probably be bought used. Check ebay/craigslist/etc..

Don't buy anything at the gas station or other "convenience" stores. Everything is overpriced and there is nothing you "need" there anyway.

and....what everyone else said. Eating out was a big one for me and my girl. You can usually eat some decent food for a couple days for the price of one meal out. It's really not worth the cost.

Mine is rated 26mpg/hwy 19mpg/city and I get about 14mpg. :woohoo:12mpg if I've been drinking some that week.

See if there are any food auctions near you. Grocery stores that have dented cans boxes jars sell them to food wholesalers and they go to auctions. Great for paper goods and canned goods. make sure there is no rust on any can and make sure the seal is still intact.

grow your buds, grow your veggies, grow your tobacco, make your own brew although i enjoy 1 or 20 heinekens haha, recycle your cans i get a few nights out bowling with my aluminum cans, look for local deals on hardware home depot will match the price, i have more but i have to sew my favorite shirt......:bigeye:

edit i cant sew worth shit. i now have a cap hahahaha

High Buckeye, i'm a lil confused, maybe even a lil disturbed about this.

If you find a local place who's most likely struggling to get buy, hence they slash their price to compete with the big boyz. Now your gonna run over to the big boyz and get them to match it rather than just buy from the local, helping out your neighbor so to speak.

Why???

How To Save Money!

How To Save Money!

Just because we're ballin', doesn't mean we need to throw away money! Post your money saving methods here to help out your fellow growers who are struggling or would just like so save a few bills!

One of mine: (for those who smoke cigarettes): I bought a plastic cigarette rolling machine, a bag of tobacco (no chemicals!), and a box of 200 filters (just like store bought cigarettes). All of this cost me $26 dollars. The bag of tobacco rolled 1/2 a carton, so my total price per carton was $32! & my next carton will cost $7 less because i don't need to calculate the cost of the rolling device!

2) COUPONS! You can actually MAKE MONEY using coupons. Say you find a good coupon, and the product it is for is already on sale in the store, you get BOTH DISCOUNTS! meaning if you find the right coupons you GET MONEY BACK FROM THE STORE :good:

3) Get a reusable plastic water bottle and bring drinks out with you in that instead of stopping at the store for an overpriced drink (the cheap way to defeat cotton mouth):dueling:

4) For those who don't like tap water, get a water filter and stop buying water bottles!

5) You can buy things at stores like best buy, walmart, and the apple store.. open the products gently, use them, and return them. Those stores usually give a 2 week return period.
