hey frank- I don't know if you've done this before, but have you had your water tested to see what you've got going in? Also, as your plants are maturing, you should expect some yellowing. I don't know if you're using soil or a soilless medium, but in my experience with hydroponics, as your nutrient regiment is changing for the cycle of the plant, I tend to lose leaves after they yellow. Now, if you're plant has a longer flowering time, at 4 weeks may be early for what your plants are doing. Just my 2 cents.

I personally won't ever go back to municipal tap water again after seeing the change in my plants once I switched to RO water for $0.20 per gallon. After seeing the difference I even stopped drinking the tap water and I feel healthier too.

Looks like a magnesium related issue, possibly with some nitrogen shortages, but then again it could just be the age of the plants. Late into flowering some strains "drain" out the larger fan leaves right at the end of maturation.

Go to RO. Maybe look into Mg and N as a supplement if you still have 5 or more weeks to go until harvest.

Dude I agree, I don't know why the hell everyone gets crappy ass water out the tap. Can't we do something about this... I mean besides for just growing weed but isn't it kinda necessary to have good water for drinking.

I priced out a water delivery thing. I can get a hot/cold dispenser for $10 per month, and have my water delivered for $2 for 5 gallons. It's almost double price than having to go get it, but for like $20 per month you and your plants could be drinking the purest of the pure without any sweat off your back.

I've spent $20 in a lot of worse places, for stupid things. This is a wise investment.

CRAP! LST BLOWOUT! HELP ME - please!

CRAP! LST BLOWOUT! HELP ME - please!

I'm an old fart, was part of the movement in the 60's, and I've been rode hard and put up wet too many times - definitely not a newbie, and I am by no means trying to hijack this thread. I can't start a thread and I am crying "HELP!!!" :fsu:

I grew outdoors when rather much younger and had little to lose, but for the last 30 years or so I couldn't take the risk. Never knew a resource like this was here until around Christmas. I am fairly overjoyed to find this resource! Been outta work for a year or more and can't afford my favorite hobby any more so I started thinking about growing. I'm doing my first stealth grow (more or less) in an attic crawl space and I'm probably DOOMED by heat but hey, it is worth a try.

I built me a "secret" room in the attic about 7 feet square with headroom in the apex just under 4 feet and 2 feet on the edges. It ain't great, but it is the best I can come up with. Painted everything flat white, got the veggie CFLs for vegging and a 400 HPS for when I get to flowering. I put a 4" sewer pipe through the floor to pull in cool air from downstairs (try explaining THAT to the war department - the wife) and hope to extend it under the building before the real heat hits. Haven't figured out exactly how to get rid of the exhaust heat so I'm blowing it into the rest of the attic. But at least I have hopes of getting a buzz before midsummer - if the heat doesn't kill everybody! At this point I know 4" pipe isn't enough but it is pulling in cool air so I'm not gonna whine.

I have 6 kids (dunno if they are girls or not yet) vegging under 19.200 lumens of CFL 6500k lights, and yes, now that spring is sprung I'm having heat problems but that isn't why I'm here begging for help.

I'm 31 days into my grow, and started LST a week or so ago. Yesterday I decided the tops had turned up a couple inches so it was time to do my second round of tying down.

Well, I put the tie on my best plant's top and started to pull it down and damn if there wasn't the horrible sound of FARGIN SNAP!!! :jawdrop: Oh, shirt! :yoinks: :wallbash:

Man, that sucker broke at the tie I put on the top the first time I tied it down. It didn't break all the way through - there's about 1/3 of the diameter that bent but didn't break off. The tie I had just put on was just situated so I could (gently!) tie it so that the broken top stood back up and (fairly well) closed the wound.

I've been spraying the top religiously. A couple leaves browned around the edges but so far it isn't dead... :microwave: What with the spraying most of it actually looks good. The part above the break, that is. I could try to put in a picture but have not got a clue how to do that. I know I can't upload it driectly to this post. I tried.

Now I don't have a frickin clue what to do. Will it heal? Should I just go ahead and cut the sucker off and try to root it?

Please help! :faint: :fright: :shark:

Somebody please help out the Happy Hippie Hillbilly! I ain't so happy any more! :flu:

Thanks frankobud! I'm still having the vapors over it but if it worked for you that gives me hope. It still looks "good" - for being broken. Looks ugly at the break though!

Hell, for $99 bucks you can have this unit. I've had it for about a
year and it actually produces 100 gal/day as advertised. Great
construction, nice unit. PPM @ 2-3!

$99.99 for the unit. Then another $60 for the 100 gallon container. And for every 100 gallons of water you get, you waste 400 gallons. If you live in an area that has water use restrictions, or if you have a house with 4 or 5 people in it and a nice yard of grass in addition, it's a lot of water in a dry summer.

I think there is some potential for a great cost here. But, for the right person, I agree they should just make it at home.

I feel for you guys with bad water. My water comes from 500 feet down and is the best tasting, purest water you've ever seen. I've had it tested. 7.0 Ph, no chemicals (chlorine, flourine, etc), no smell, no pollutants, a bare trace of calcium and nothing else. My plants LOVE it! My well produces 120 gal/minute. Gotta love that! It comes out of the ground at 42 degrees year round.

This is true if you have water restrictions. I use around 40 gallons
a week of RO. That equals $3.50 a month for waste water and
$3.25 for water($.006/gal). A 32 gal trash can with float valve was
$26. Replacing the RO membrane once a year for $60. Cost for a
year with the filter(and a replacement membrane),water, trash
can and valve is roughly $241. If I used a bottle service like you
suggest at those prices it would cost me $952/year and I
wouldn't own an RO filter.:chin:

If anyone has seen the episode of House from S2 titled "euphoria"
you may remeber the story was about a guy that goes into the
hospital for a respiratory failure and ends up dying from
PAM(Primary amebic meningoencephalitis) which he contracted
from using contaminated rain water that he collected to water his
grow op. It was caused by Naegleria fowler. Not saying the
potential is even really there. Just a cool episode back when
House was still interesting. I do collect rainwater for my yard and
outdoor plants. I have the occasional squirrel fall in there and
drown if I leave the top off by accident, so careful if you like
those things.

Dude you are way off base. My post was an anecdote. If you know
the show House you would know they come up with some off the
wall shit. I thought it was an interesting episode actually showing
an indoor grow op. If you think that is a statement on the war on
drugs, what is House's pain pill addiction?? Collect all the
rainwater you want, as do I. I choose to use it for my yard. I'm
glad you can collect your own water too, kudos. Obviously people
have been collecting rainwater since the beginning of time so of
course it's fine, even to drink it if properly filtered.

And thanks I'll continue using my city water, it comes from my
spigot in an endless flow.:good:
