I use a small artist paint brush to pollinate mine. If I wish to use several types of pollen I spray with tap water the buds I DO NOT wish to pollinate. Then I can pollinate the others. Bags are good too but you can't always fit a bag properly.

Haha yeah I was thinking about using one of those, like the ones you get from crayola watercolor sets, when you say you spray are you referring to painting the pollen on, spraying the bud, then repainting with different pollen? I would like to try this because I have 1 of each Healthy males, RRF and Onyx that I would like to make some good seeds out of maybe even cross the RRF and Onyx together, would the seeds that come out of those be autoflowering still? I'm new to genetics so I'm still confused a bit.

wOW, GREAT JOURNAL....I HOPE YOU GET THAT LEAF DROOPPMG UNDER CONTROL, GREAT INFO HERE!

Thanks man, glad to see you dropping in a leaving a comment, about the leaf drooping they seem to have stopped, I have killed 1 of the males because it seemed like a runt I have 2 really solid males. I'll take some pics and put them in in a couple minutes or so.

As for an update, I have 1 RRF now that is about 10 days now, gave it first TEA, looking good I have to say. Gave the other 2 males the TEA also, but going to transplant them soon and put them outside for pollen. Since I found out that most of my plants were male I started germing a couple more. 2 Onyx and 1 RRF, 1 RRF and 1 Onyx have popped and now are in soil! cant wait for them to pop out in the next few days.
Still have a question about the males though, should I worry about them bursting their pollen any time soon? I'd say they're at about 17 days from sprout, 20 days from putting in soil. I can take pictures if needed, but any advice asap would be good, dont want any pollen in my fridge!

Thanks for stopping by, comments always welcome!

just some quick pictures, post some more up tomorrow when I get a chance. onyx is still drooping a little bit, but its new leafs seem to be perking up again. oh and dont mind the temperature reading, the fans are blowing on the plants and I think it may throw off the temp cause the bulb is pretty hot.

It's hard to say about the pollen timing. Some of mine were rapid and some took a while. Each strain is different. When I say spray I mean spray water from a small hand held manual sprayer. I get it close to the bud I want water on. For example I pollinated a short term amnesia with Ducksfoot pollen on the lower buds using a brush. I waited a few days. I then sprayed with tap water the buds I just pollinated with Ducksfoot then with a small maybe 1/16 inch or less artist brush I brushed short term amnesia pollen on some of the upper buds. I believe you have to use tap water. There is a thread somewhere that says if you use rain water it will not deactivate the pollen. Maybe it's a ph thing when using rainwater.

Now that is sum great, great, info right there!!!! I'm def. gonna try that!
What I was plan on doing was "WHOLE PLANT POLLENATING"< where I just leave a good looking male in my little tent with a good looking female..and jus let the magic happen!!:dance013:
I want a LOT of SEEDS!<Dnt wanna keep buying!!
And since I'm doing a perpetual/stagger crop of 16-20 AUTOS of 4 diff. strains,(AutoAk, LR2, White Dwarf fem & AutoAk x Auto BB) I want to pollinate 1 female from each strain using the AK males only<<the biggest AUTOS...
But for my next batch, which I will be starting in 4-5wks, I going to try your paint brush/spray with water method...it's perfect for what I wanna do! My next batch will be: Blue Himilayian Deisel, Blue Streak, Purple Jemz & Sour60!!!!<YEAH BABY! So since I will have all these beautiful strains I wanna keep the same genetics as well as make sum crosses....and that paint brush/spray with tap water method will now help me accomplish this...Couldn't do this if I were doin "whole plant pollinating" like the first batch! Besidez, If I were to try and do the whole plant thing with this many, I would have to have each one in a diff. part of the house and outside<<dnt wanna put "any" outside, for fear of bugz & shit! Thanks Again...Sorry fo the long post...:plant grow:

Thanks for the info, sounds good. I'll probaby be putting the males outside soon, in the shed that I have, near the windows. Would I have to worry about my females being pollinated inside? I hear pollen can travel for miles, but I dont think that it would be able to get into the house and into the specific room that my mini-fridge is in. Any ideas?

Update for everyone, all 3 males have died RIP, I tried to put them outside and see how they would do, but with the recent weather (RAIN RAIN RAIN) they have all died. But with bad news theres always some good news, since finding out that 3 of them were male, I quickly germed another 3 beans, they have sprouted and are doing quite well under the HPS. Also there is 1 FEMALE in the fridge! Thank god, 3 males but 1 pretty girl even though she is looking kind of droopy, not sure why I've been watering every 2-3 days with like 150ml, there is a little run off. You'll see in the pictures. I wish I could take some shots of the pistil but this damn camera is so shitty.

Here are the 2 Onyx's looking good

Here is the Baby RRF

and Here is the older Girl,

if anyone could tell me why they are drooping/curling like that would be great, I plan on transplanting her soon into new pots.

Going to give them a later today in the afternoon.

Thanks for looking and any advice is awesome!

Have a look at the first pics in my grow thread "test grow Purple Concorde and speedy gonzales" mine looked about the same as your Lady and the was because my soil got to compact, thank you ICC for pointing me in the right direction. Think your having the same problem, the roots arent getting enough oxygen. Repot them in to your air pots and get the soil mix right and she will be fine. The sooner you doit the better, mine took about 4 days to recover after i repotted them.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip seedling, I quickly transplanted the female into a Airpot. Here are some pics of her in her new home! I measure her today and shes 2 inches tall, not very tall but hopefully we'll be seeing a growth spurt in this new home. Glad to see that I have 1 girl in the pack, excited to see the coming weeks.:jump:

The fridge is pretty tight now with the airpot, and I thought I'd be able to cram 4 in there, no way! maybe 2 at most, and then some gallon grow bags. Here are some pictures of the other babies.

First Picture is RRF and next 2 are Onyx.

Thanks for stopping by, any comments or advice is again welcomed!

really skotty? I heard that fimming/topping could hurt autoflowers cause they grow in such a short amount of time.

wow skotty, definately might have to try fimming onyx if I get any females in this batch of 2. Your plants looks so wide, not sure if my little mini fridge would even be able to fit that bushy thing haha. When did you fim, its my first grow, I read a little bit about it but it seemed quite confusing to me. I appreciate you stopping by and droppin a comment. I'll definately stop by your page again to see harvest. I'm sure your next grow will be better than your first!

Nice one mate, give it a couple of days and you will see a big difference. Wouldnt stress the fiming though, if you run out of height tie it down, no need for that extra stress on your first grow.... one step at a time mate... no offence scotty your plants looks sweet but >I cant see the reason for FIMing that onyx. Keep it to the basics and you will be rewarded. The best example of that is HappyCampers Auto grows here in the forum, no ferts, old juice containers as pots, no fancy stuff but very impressive results!!!!

I'll be posting picture updates soon once the plant has gone through some substantial growth. I have a quick question though, since I transplanted into fresh new FFOF soil, should I hold off on the TEA? and for how long? I'm trying to follow ICC's method, so the RRF is now on day 20 from sprout and I should be giving the tea either 17-21. I'm hesitant because I dont want to burn this lil one. I should be giving the new babies their first TEA batch soon, their 7 days from sprout right now. Any advice would be awesome guys!

the reason for fimming is because i didnt want just 1 main cola which is common on autos so by fimming she has branched out producing more bud sites ive never seen any 1 onyx before so would be good to compare my final weigh in results with other growers to see if it made a difference

as for advice on your grow mate i only use canna nutes so cant really give you the best advice to take but im sure someone will pop in with some ideas for ya

peace

thanks for the info skotty, I'm not sure if I'll fim my onyx if I get a female, maybe we can compare results as to which is better? Even though we arent using quite the same things, I'm sure yours will yield quite a bit, that onyx is lookin awesome!

But if anyone could chime in about the TEA issue that would be great, I watered all of them today. The Female RRF is looking really good, most of her leaves are starting to come back down from wilting, they are almost all perked right back up. Thanks for the tranplanting advice seedling! I'll probably using the TEA in a couple days either way if noone answers. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to drop a comment/advice!

alright guys, been a couple days since an update so I'm back! Well the RRF female is looking good, shes kind of growing a little crooked in the pot but Im not too sure if I should worry about it or not. The other 3 babies havent showed sex just yet, but I'm guessing they will be any day now. The RRF is growing really steadily, I'm impressed to see the amount of pistils on this girl, but then again its my first grow so seeing everything is pretty much awesome. Shes at a good 4 inches tall, on day 25 now from sprout, I'm hoping she gets a good growth spurt soon but I'm not too sure. They're all on a light schedule now of 20/4 and watered every 3 days. Some pics of the RRF

Should I be worried that this gal is growing a little on the crooked side? I turn the pot so that the light is a bit further in hopes that she will start to grow the other way. Any info is welcome, dunno if this will help but her cotyledons are turning a bit of a yellow color, the bottoms a bit brown maybe? but they're definitely yellow, this a problem?

Feel free to throw up a comment everyone!

Hey mate, nice to see some good progress, the girl is finaly starting to take of! I wouldnt worry about how she grows, cant see how that would be a problem and the botton leaves going yellow is noting to think to much about either. Just keep on doing what your doing right now and im sure wont be dissapointed. The comming weeks will be very interesting for you, if she is comfortable in her new pot and you have watering and nutes dialed, looks like u have, you wont believe your eyes. These little things sure knows how to grow!!

Good luck and keep us updated.
