2x4x5tent, 10x 24 watt CFL. 2 plants 5 days into flowering. pics

I have two jilly bean plants about 3 ft. 5 days into flowering no signs of anything yet... they are in there own cardboard boxes w/ white paper inside until the mylar tent i ordered comes. I am going to put the tent in my attic, it stays a nice and warm temp and has vent window. going to put about 10 -12 CFL's in it. The cfls from basic hardware store that are 100 watt replacement. probably 6 of them higher up, then 4 hanging around mid area of the plants (2-3 ft above ground). have a standup tower fan, and 2 4 inch fans from target i am going to put in the vents, for now. planning on getting a carbon filter, what else you guys think i need? follow this , the plants r dank trust me!! the purple kush is veging. took 8 clones from the 2 jillys beans and they are looking great, growin new leaves but cant see the roots yet. i dont want that much heat in 2x4 its going in closet.. you really think that many cfls are not enough for 2, what else would u suggest, LED? those dont have the heat problems like hps. this is my first grow as well so dont wanna drop bills on a hps yet. Y r u so bittter from the start, grow up this website is for helping people but i dont think u have any knowledge . How do the pics not work? the plants are dank 3 ft tall and healthy see the plants before u claim asstastic

i am newb tho so some advice would be cool rather than saying durrrr 1000 watt hps... the plants are 3 ft tall and at least 2 ft in width maybe more. how could that fit in 1x2? they are trained so going to be kinda wide.

Ignore the anti fluorescent sentiment SD. I am a patient who grows from seed to cut under fluorescent. To answer your questions:

I myself flower a 3x3 area with 16 24watt CFL bulbs. In that space I stack in 6 plants, typically topped a ton of times and bent (LST) to promote a nice even canopy.

In large vegetative (2X3) I use 8 24watt CFL bulbs. In clone/small vegetative (2X3) I use 4 24watt CFL bulbs.

Basically, treat each CFL as if they were a basketball sized globe of light. If you exceed that 4 inch radius off the bulb, it becomes increasingly worthless for flowering.

Past that, expect to see buds on par with HID when you have it dialed in right. This is a shot of a sativa project Im working on called "Chernobyl" from TGA seeds. Its a lower yielding plant, but its potency and taste are to die for.

And in terms of yield, heres a shot of an East Coast Sour Diesel Im running to 120 days.

CFLs rock if you can get em close to the girls!

thanks for the pointers Voodoo, i am a CA med patient as well!! stay medicated. yeah i was planning on hanging them so they are close to the buds. u think 10x 24 wattss will be enough for 2-3 plants that are prob going to get 4 ft by end of flowering? yeah i am bending mine LST as well with string attached to the pot. its working great to say the least, lovin the new growth. are u growin in tent, wat r u using for air filtration?

That should be more than enough light if you really focus on getting the bulbs close to the plants and keep them bent down. Heres a shot of mine;

I grow in a closet and a cabinet. Its a perpetual setup, 6 plants, one cut every 2 weeks allowing each plant to run 84 days (12 weeks). I dont filter the air, I have enough ventilation it hasn't been an issue.

for sure your setup looks dank and healthy, thanks for the tips ill make sure to get the bulbs close. gonna set everything up tomorow night or the next day wen tent gets here. really interested to see how the cfl's perform in the mylar tent!! try out a mini fan hanging near the lights pointing down mine really like it. u can get them at target for like 4.99. gona be uploading pics in the next few days of new setup. p.s can u guys see my pics at t he top of the page?

sorry bro i see you logic i grow with cfl to they rock but i thought you were gonna fill the room with plant and only use those lights but i see you only have two plants and your using an open grow to lower heat makes since
if your closet doesnt have enough vent it will get preaty hot
but ac in your pad and a fan in the closet youl be fine i had less light and 4 plants so your good just put lights as close as possible to eachother and your canape

i just read what youall said to me and reallized i did not at all say what i tried to and i sounded nazish
i opted for a 150 over a 400 hps i have the cash but i only grow for my self and a sick friend or two so it was odvious and only 50$ and i can get 4-5oz's every 56 days and minimal exhoust
i ment the room your using could use a 600 for the hole room and since your grow room is so big i assumed(an ass out of u and me) that you were going for a grow so hopefully we are at an understanding and can still all be frinds i dont wanna hurt any ones feelers
and a good idea would be to use only one side of your closet

thanks , yea im gonna be posting the pics on this thread. i was for legalization and now im starting to reconsider b/c medical mj in cali is legal and the system is working great as medicine, could get fucked if they make it a "recreational" drug. they would maybe test for it wen u get pulled over while driving, like a dui and alcohol. things like that would suck!!!

Hey voodoo, what color cfls u suggest getting, i have 4 bright whites right now. i know ideal CFL's for flowering are supposed to be like 3000-4000K yea? is that soft white or what are u using?

Alright, ignore what you've heard. Basically it doesn't really matter what color you use. I use a mix of 2700, 3500, 5000, 6500. Now here is what I have seen:

5000s and more specifically 6500k bulbs are a bluer color and thus cause the plants to be shorter and develop tighter internodes, very helpful for CFL growing as you want the plants to be tiny(less than 3 feet tall after bending/pruning) and dense (multiple heads from topping). In flower, the bluer bulbs produce more resin at the expense of slightly less bud matter development.

3500s and more specifically 2700k bulbs are redder in color and thus cause the plant to stretch more. They also develop less resin, but more bud matter.

Typically in veg, I use 4/5s blue bulbs. In flower I use 1/2 blue, 1/2 red - mixed evenly.

Now before you get really hung up on blue versus red bulbs, I will tell you this, the difference seen between colors is nothing, maybe 5%-10%, and its far more important to focus on brightness than anything else. If you have to ask if its bright enough, you need more light.

the tent is here!!! just set it up. fits great in the closet . went to the hydro store today to talk with the Knowers and get some advice on ventilation. gonna go back tomorow and buy a 4" carbon filter with fan for outgoing air to control the smell. (since its in my small apartment). the plants are in the dark right now so no pics, but i will post some pictures when they are in the tent and lights are on around 10 or 11pm tonight.

Hey. got the tent set up. hanging alot of cfls. mostly bright white 25 watt 100 watt replacement, a few daylight and soft white 15 watt 75 watt replacement. have a 4 inch fan at the bottom vent pushing fresh air in.
. the lights are hanging from their cords and they are no farther than 1 ft away from leaves. there is one low 4-light fixture thats hanging lower like 1.5ft off the ground to provide light for lower leaves. going to get a 4 inch carbon filter and filter air through the top with outgoing fan hooked up airtight. you guys think thats a good way to filter the outgoing air? or will i not need it? 2 jilly bean plants and one purple kush. also have two 4 inch fans inside for some ciruclation. got the tent off amazon for 80 bucks, well worth it!! the plants are boosting and lovin the mylar, they didnt like cardboard!! f that shiiii never using it again.
