spider mite killing idea

Sounds like root aphids, feel free to look at the picture in my Album labeled Root Aphid Swarm, looks similar.
I'd trash everything and start over, but there are some other options, check the root aphid thread.
Sorry for your loss, they suck!

Oh, heck, here's the picture, I can save you the effort!

hey bud spleefman. I dunno man, from the online pics i see root alphids look fatter, kinda like larva. My bugs look like tiny ticks, look alot more like mites than alphids from what ive seen. Sorry about your alphids man.

Well i sealed up the tent with the hot shot no pest strip again tonight. This time with no oscilating fan, just stood the strip up right in the middle of the plants. Tomorrow im going to get like 3 more of them and hit these bastards with 4 at once. I'm still wondering if its ok to spray stuff like floramite or homemade mite killing concoctions onto the top of my soil. Like the nicotine juice i boiled up earlier, mabey hot sauce. Does anyone know?

Use a product called 'Pure', mix it with water, give a nice spray, rinse, repeat 3 times in a week. Do it when the lights are off, in Veg. Gets rid of all bugs. I'm not in the garage, can't clarify beyond 'Pure'.

hi jimbo i found spider mites last friday, i went to a local grow shop and they suggested predators i pick them up on thursday this week, they tell me that the predators eat all mites and eggs and it should only take about a week to totally clear.
the predators breed and move faster than the mites and once the mites have all gone the predators then just die off from starvation so maybe this is an option for you if you dont want your plants covered in chemicals. good luck

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I ran to home depot earlier today and picked up 2 more no pest strips and some ortho organic pesticide. Its the only stuff for plants they had. Its supposed to be for rose bushes and house plants n shit. Active ingredients are sulfur and pyrethium. I sprayed some of that on the top of the soil for all plants. Right now the tent is sealed up with the 3 pest strips, ventilation and lights are off. I'll let you guys know how it works out. I plan on transplanting most of the plants tomorrow so i'll get a good look at the roots and see if these fuckers are doing any damage to them. If they're still around tomorow im gonna head over to the hydro shop and hit them with some new shit.

What kind of predators. Some of them like persimilis require specific conditions to survive.

Phytoseiulus are the ones i got big bud the advice note that comes with them says that as long as the temps range between 65-85 degrees and they prefer the humidity at about 70 with a light spray on the leaves with water.

i put them in on thursday i caught the little 4kers early so im hoping the Phytoseiulus do their job, the advice sheet also said that they eat approx 5 adult red or spotted spider mites each or up to 25 lavae i bought 1000 just over 100 per plant so i should be clear within a week or two (fingers crossed)

after reading the root aphid/deficency thread i've decided that these are not mites but some sort of phyloxera or root aphid.
