I've looked for treads on this but I couldn't find one. I have been a smoker for 10 years and I have NO idea how to know what strain I have? I trust in what Im told it is and if I don't have a name its 'that shit'. Now I am looking to start growing but I don't wanna waste my time with something I cant put a name too. Any advice?? I kinda feel like an ass, lol.

lol madback, if you think you are able to identify the strain that you have using that website, you are deeply mistaken.

There is no way to tell. If you are buying seeds, buy from a quality vendor that will not bullshit lineage.

If you are new to growing, I wouldn't worry too much about how to grow unknown seeds that you don't have any background on. If you think they are some bomb stuff, put 'em aside for now.

Purchase some inexpensive beans from a reputable source for your first grow or two. Most any commonly available strain will have tons of grow reports with lots of information on how to grow a particular strain. Check the growers forum for info on strains that you are interested in.

Research, research, and then research some more! Weather indoors or out, research. If indoors, decide the medium you want to use, and research! If there is a way to grow it, there is a thread on it!

The end result depends on how well you prepare, and how well you handle those unexpected hiccups. So do your homework first, and it will save you money, effort (and possibly heartbreak) down the road.

yeah buying a pack of seeds online would be the best bet. It's pretty cool to see the descriptions you've read come to life in front of you.
I'm looking forward to a time when i can look at/smell/smoke something and be able to say that's kushy or diesely or whatever, just have a general idea. That just comes with experience though, something I don't have much of. best I can do now is point towards indica or sat, I'll get better though.

First,you have to decide what kind of high you prefer,something that keeps your butt plastered to the couch,something that makes you want to go out and be sociable,or something different.Check out the reputable seed sources available here and most give detailed descriptions of what to expect from their particular seeds.I started with aurora indica and have moved on to satori after a couple grows.Hope this helps.
