Sorry if this pisses some people off, but I just wanted to run a poll to see what people think of the new ABC show Flash Forward. In my opinion, this show is going to be just as good as Lost has been to us. What do you think? Please express comments as well. Cheers!!!

Definitely worth it! I remember when everyone kept telling me to watch Lost and I kept saying to myself: "What is this Gilligan's Island or something?" until I tuned in.

Starts off really well, but by the end of the first series, its clear that its going to run into the same problems lost did. I watched the first 2 series of lost and then realised that the writers were lost. When a series gets popular, the network wants as many episodes to sell on as possible. And so any central story line has to get stretched out as far as possible meaning that the pace of the series and the core story vanishes. IF flash forward was a 1 series show that told a tale it would have been great. But its never going to have a conclusion as long as its still popular, so it will die a slow death petering out into nothing more than a show about people chasing shadows and their own tales in my opinion.

What you call the "first series" is actually only the first 1/2 of the first season. They took a break for more filming. I think the second half of the first season is starting to look promising.

Also, if you haven't watched Lost since season 2, you'd better get started with those dvds. Ya they stretch the story out, but when you don't have to worry about commercials and waiting a week in between episodes it is not that big of a deal. Just my $0.02 :tiphat:

the one problem i have with it, sort of aligns with what GMT is saying... i keep seeing this commercial, and the guy goes.."ANOTHER blackout is about to happen" or something crazy lol :joint:

i wish people (writers, producers) had the idea about tv that the writers of the wire had..."we have this vision, we know exactly what we want to say, we know exactly what we want to do, and we know exactly when/how we're going to end it" and then BAM, you have the best show on television.. coincidence?

but, i cant talk shit on flash forward, because i haven't seen it. so i'll definitely check it out!!

oh right, so how is a series defined? To me a series is a bunch of shows aired together, in a kind of series as it were. If they do one bunch of shows, then take a break and start a new bunch of shows, to me thats another series of shows. I'm really not trying to be sarcastic here, its just thats how I see a series of shows, one bunch shown in one group. Its a genuine question, how is a series defined if not a bunch shown in order?

Lost lost me as a viewer when it decided to give a cloud of black smoke the power to move around at will defying the laws of physics, not to mention giving a cloud of black smoke a will of its own to begin with lol. Well it lost me a bit before that, but thats the last episode I watched. I have no interest in that show at all, and I suspect that flash forward will become the same.

I agree with you there...the commercials are lame. But look at the first few years of Lost commercials... "Blah blah blah...survivors trapped on a mysterious island." Those sounded just as bad to me, and brought up more skepticism. The commercials are just to get people to tune in the first time, don't let them be the determinant of whether you watch the show. PS I LOVE THE WIRE!!!!!!!!!

That is the definition that the show has given for the first "season". Something which Lost has done also, because of the high production costs, is to film the first half of the season and then take a break for to film the rest. I don't care if you have a different definition, thats your own thing. I like what I've seen from the first and second "series" if that is what you wish to call it!

My buddy couldn't deal with Lost either and he was the one that got me into it.

CalBear4Life, GMT understands what's going on.

Notice he is in the UK and you are in the USA lol. That is why he says "series" and you say "season."

Lost recovered from their mid run faltering and turned it into a well written and acted series. Not so sure about Flash Forward. They blew their budget on the special effects during the first show and since then have been killing time with soap opera drama and cliché angst. Jeez, I'm sick of the “suffering hero” alcoholic theme.

Lost made their characters interesting. Flash Forward needs to add a Hurley type character to give me someone I can care about.

Great points...I am hoping that it gets better and just gauging where other people stand with the show. Thanks and cheers bro!
