BigHill's Snowryder Garden

Hello there, i thought since i am doing a quick seed selection for the summer I would share with everyone, as i go.

These are my F2's of short stuff snowryder. I found a nice keeper pheno first run. She got an open pollenation from 4 males. I didn't get many seeds, 50 maybe. The wifes cat also found the kepper while i wasn't looking. So this is the start of my selection process. Care to join? I will update when i get around to it, won't be every day type of deal.

20 seeds got wet. 17 made the cut to soil, anything past 72 hours to germ gets binned. Of the 17, as of todays date, 8 females 5 males and some late bloomers. We are around 14 days ish. Selecting for potency.

Garden specs.
400 Watt MH (This is my veg space, some will end up in the 600 watt flower space)
2 Gal store bought grow bags.
Promix HP as a base mix, Welcome harvest farm organic addatives, sheep maneur, Home composted remix.
Watering with only organic compost teas.

On to the good stuff.
Group shot, smaller ones are the autos, bigger ones are some non auto kushes.

Some closer shots of the females, they look pale, they are green when they are out of there. They will be getting a feeding soon though. These are just random females i chose for the photo, nothing stand out at the moment.

Males and Yet to be sexed ones, and some cuttings, lol. Males are going to their home soon enough.

This guy makes the short list so far.

Thanks for the visit.

I have some Snowryder fem seeds coming next week. I can't wait to see what they are like. It looks like all the Short Stuff strains are pretty awesome. I hope your grow goes well.

If they are anything like the first run they will produce some nice pics for everyone. They get covered in trichs.

This pheno i am working with had smaller buds, but very pungent citrus/berry smell. All the phenos tasted great. I chose to work with this pheno because the stone had more stay power than the others i had. So far so good, they are vigorus, which is a good thing.

Well, i thought it was time to do a photo update. Males have been seperated, females have been tagged. Of 17 seeds that poped, i have 8 females and had 9 males. I kept 4 males to catch some pollen.

Starting to see some seperation in phenos but i can tell i have 3 taller phenos and some others i just don't know yet. I forgot to mention the leaf defomaties a good few of them showed. Mom showed it also, so we'll see what that means,

Other than that i will let the pics do the talking. I have my light closer now, as i moved some outta there into flower. The nodes should stay a little more under control now, not such a bad thing though... lots of light on the lower branches. They are going into bud now so the stretch is on, as you will see.

Here is the group shot, and some others :) Good growth compared to the last post. They have had 2 "icc mild" teas.

Taller Phenos, these yeilded nice last time, it's bigger now, going into bud than last time so i'm happy. These 3 photos are of the same gal, but have 3 gals that show similar size traits.

Smaller/Medium pheno, also later to start blooming.

These were the males i kept, two bigger phenos and 2 of the best that had leaf deformities. Once i see balls they get moved to the out-skirts of town so they get ultra lanky. This pic is a week or so older than the above ones, you can see how much they have grown in a week.. well 10 days.:dance013:

Well that's it for now, until next time.

Update time, they are starting to bud pretty good now. Alot bigger than last time, i also atribute the size difference to the pot beeing double the size. Resin production has started, buds are growing nicely. Every lady got hit with some pollen, mostly on the lower branches, as i still like to sample "some" unseeded bud. They are at about 2 weeks bloom, they should be done around the middle of april. So LOTS of time to build them nuggets.

The pheno i am working with looks alot like some LR#2 grows i've seen, which leads me to belive that LR#2 was used in this cross. Or is infact repackaged LR#2... No one has corrected me on this one yet.

Ither way i have a more stable canopy this round, which is nice, and the gals look like mom. Which i hope means potency came through too. The smell sure did.

On to the Pics...:jump:

Looks like i am going to get some nice bubble hash this round, even the fans are starting to frost up, on both sides.

That's it from the SR#3.. Most of them will be moved to the HPS cab, as the jems are going to take this space shortly. So my next update i will do before i chop them. As it's hard to get the space to take photos in the flower cab.

Cheers.

I have grown LR#2 several times, I bought them, grew them and posted on high bred .net within 4 months of LR#2 release about 4 years ago. I have grown SR several times, as well as my Himalayan Blue x SR, and I must say that LR#2 direct from the Joint Dr. is notably different than SR directly from short stuff. LR#2 smells sweeter and more like the colombian gold and santa maria sativas, and the SR smells more like mango/fruit with less sweetness, both have that smell of fresh cut grass/hemp that is typical of the ruderalis crosses. I think the LR#2 is more potent and produces more, but the SR is very, very worthwhile for relaxing/inducing sleep, whereas the LR#2 is a better daytime smoke. Both are good for pain management. I seriously doubt that SR is repackaged LR#2 (espicially since its cheaper) but they could have bred the SR from the LR#2.

I had the exact opposite effect from the Snowryder. I found it to be very up and a good daytime smoke. It, along with AK47 x blueberry are the only two that I've grown that have that effect on me. All the others I find to be more indica like, especially the Blue Himalayan x Diesel and the White Russian. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah i wasn't sure what ryder was used. If it was even re-packaged it isn't the same F as JD's. His get bigger. I wasn't so sure myself but needed some input on the matter.

I haven't smoked snow white, but ive smoked enough white widow, and this doesn't taste like widow. I am just trying to figure out what side the fruit taste is comming from. Does snow white taste that fruity?

I also found SR to be good day smoke, it was right in the head and got the noodle going. I found it to be a nice adition to the work breaks.

Since i had to take down a few 12/12 ladies last night i though i would get in there with the camera to get some pre-flush photos. I had to take them with the HPS on, and i couldn't figure out photoshop to change the colors. So my appologies for the yellow. They are about 2 weeks from chop, they got their last bubbled tea the other day.
Pretty pleased with the results. All of them are bigger than the breeders discription, and i'm only 1 generation removed from the P1 pack.
They are over stinking the OG's in there at the moment, SR seems to get super pungent in the last 3 weeks. One pheno has a sour kind of fruit smell, hope it stays with the smoke.

I'll let the pics do the talking.

Sort of group shot, couple ladies on the floor the others are on the shelf on the right. Golf ball nuggest all over the place. I also forgot to mention these are all on 12/12 and have been for at least 3 weeks. Not suffering at all ;)

Here is a size comparison. They aren't doing too bad for soil and bubbled teas!

This lady is niiice... Rock solid nugget, that thing is half a coke can size.. Could be an 1/8th there for how compact it is.

Finally.. I will finsh with a Trich shot.. I told you they put on a nice show. Not any ambers yet but they are starting to get cloudy. That's not even close to the best one ither... She's too far back for easy access.

Frost anyone?

That is all i have for this fine afternoon.

cull the early flowering males and use the late bloom males, id be more inclined to pollenate only the late blooming females also, the more the plants can veg before hitting flowering the higher the yeild should be,

but its entirely upto you man, they look great and goodluck

Thanks for stopping in fellas.

I'm happy with them. Can't wait to sample. The smells are very similar to the mother, should be top shelf.

Every plant got polenated by the 4 males, at the bottom of post #7. A good while ago now. I had a good few to choose from. I started with 17 plants. 9 were males. I just hit the lower branches so i can save the top cola for sampling, lower ones can then mature the seeds as needed.
I do my selections assuming the super early flower ones are closer to the hemp side. Almost every auto i grow, i do some kind of pollenation. How can i select for potency if i don't sample? If i can't clone it i need some thing to play with ;) It's been working for me so far.

Today was chop day:jump:, this will conclude this grow of snowryder. I will update next with a smoke report and cured pics. So in holding up my end of the bargain here are some harvest pics. Pretty happy with the results, the smaller ones didn't come close to using the whole amount of soil. I might give 1 or 2gal air pots a run some time.
Most phenos smelled fruity like most SR i've grown, but i found a pheno that smells like sambuca. It smelled more like sour fruit early in flower but when finished at 10 weeks it has an unmistakable likeness.

213 grams wet from 8 plants. :)

Not much else to say, so i'll let the pics do the talking.

Some closer shots. I am really pleased with the bud density, i credit the 600watt for that. Even the ones that are really foxtalied, they are really dense tails.

Thanks for joining in the fun, i'll add more to this thread as i grow more SR. Till then,

thanks fellas.

Obey, they went 70 days from seed exactly. There was one or 2 that could have gone longer but the trichs were mostly all cloudy and a few amber so they got the chop anyways.
