Can C99 be harvested at 75 days?

S

I know 75 days is much later than when most other people take their C99 down & I'm not stubborn enough to do this if others can tell me why I shouldn't. I just want to try to keep the heart-racing effects to a minimum and figured since I'm going to harvest my other strain around the 75 day mark I would ask. Thanks for any educated advice in advance.

My guess:

I know what you mean about the heart racing effects, and knowing what I know from reading here normally if you let a strain flower longer it becomes more "couchy". I am on my first c99 grow so I cannot speak from experience, but from what I have read, c99 is supposed to be racy/trippy and I don't "think" leaving it sit longer will make it any less racy. At some point a plant and it's trichromes start degrading, 75 days on a 56 day strain might be that point. If you do decide to let her go, let us know what happens!

I am flowering 6 different female c99bx1 from Mosca right now, I also don't like racy smoke, but some of my patients do. I am hoping it is something I can enjoy without feeling like my heart is going to pop out of chest.

Thanks for your input PuReKnOwLeDgE.

You & I are on the same page re. the possible resin degradation. I have not stepped out of the closet as a grower yet, so I'm not officially supplying anyone with meds (yet). As a result, I feel I can experiment more and if I Fk-up the grow nobody really suffers but me (and my precious girls;)).

I'm ok with the plants losing some potency but would prefer to keep the pineapple aroma and most of the other palatable perks she's known for.

At this point, it's just a thought. I might chop closer to a more acceptable harvest time, but I'm interested to hear if anyone has gone beyond and how she turned out for them.

Just in case my heart begins to feel like it's going to pop out of my chest I've got what I consider the antidote. ie. a Motarebel Herijuana on the same schedule, but which I'm definitely taking to the 75 day mark. That should tuck my heart right back into place before it tucks me in to sleep. :tiphat:

Considering different growing conditions and phenos of the same strain may mature at different rates, it would be more accurate for you to get a little 60-100x microscope and look at the trichomes to determine when the best time to harvest is for you.

See http://www.cannabisculture.com/v2/content/amber-alert

Chopping with mostly clear trichomes results in a racy caffeine like high, in my experience, at least w/ sativas.

Why grow C99 if you don't like its sativa high? Anyway I've taken wally C99 at 70 days and it wasn't racy at all, actually a bit sleep inducing and indica-like. A test nug at 40 days made my heart race the first time or two, and another time with its kiff, but tolerance buildup took care of that way too soon for me.

Also, I say to hell with accepted trich color when it comes to C99. It seems to start with cloudy trichs and even when overripe at 70 days had very few amber.

I've used a handheld microscope consistently since flipping to 12/12 & already see plenty of cloudiness.

If there's not going to be many amber resin glands at 70 days I may need to rethink how to approach harvest. Perhaps just waiting for the final calyx swelling and monitoring pistle senescence/color will help out in addition to examining trichome qualities.

Given the spectrum of qualities of sativa highs, I prefer to get more of a massaging effect in my mind's eye than an heart-thumping that makes me clench the arms of my chair.

After some more thought, I remembered that I want each strain to turn out as perfect as she can (for that given strain), so I'll just mix the C99 & Heri in my Rizla or bowl to meet my specific needs.

Thanks for the input guys. :)

I have harvested Reefermans c99 at about 73-75 days. They were still racey. I think they were supposed to go a bit longer though..

That's interesting to know. My C99 is from Joey Weed & she has been nothing but impressive by my standards. Presumably, they are all of the same genetic line and will deffo have variation to some degree.

One thing I noticed today is her pistles are 100% white and she's bulking up day by day, while on the other hand, my Herijuana bitch, which I thought was going to be the later maturing of the two, is starting to show approximately 2% to 5% browning pistles. Not really worried about this, but it's an interesting observation.

Flushed them both this weekend because I want nothing but pure white ash when blazing these buds, even if it means a reduced yield in the end.
