seed storage... does anyone here use dessicant?

I've been thinking if it would be a good idea to put a few little bags of silica gel dessicant into my box which I store my seeds in. I don't have the best refrigerator and I'm guessing the humidity in there drops and rises all the time. Would adding a pack of the silica help? I mean, the stuff keeps things dry and stops moisture from ruining a sorts of of products. If anyone has any opinions or thoughts please do share. Thanks, M_M

Yea, the silica gels are great ..you can find them cheap @ ebay in various sizes ..camera shops also carry these

these are also re-usable ..into microwave for a while, and these silica bags get dry again ..some sets come with these moisture-stickers to show when it's time to micro-dry it..

:)

Awesome thanks for the responses. I've been using it for as long as I've had my beans refrigerated and was thinking 'does anyone else do this? am I unwittingly f*cking my seeds up?' so I'm glad to hear you all use the stuff too. I just figured it'd keep things dry and maybe reduce the incidence of fluctuations in the humidity. Again, thanks all and trich... I'll keep that in mind. (the rice) Makes a lot of sense when thought about butI never thought to do it before.

Yeah ive got a big bag of orange silica balls that change colour to purple when moisturised, which is handy.
