Older leaves are becoming yellow

Hello there!

My first post here :)

Let me get to the case. This is my first grow ever. So, here are my flowers. The problem with them is that, the older leaves are becoming yellow. You can also see the effects of high temperature on some top leaves. I fixed that with moving hps bulb higher.

Here are the pictures:

How long has this problem been going on?
-- second week now

What STRAIN are you growing?
-- greenhouseseeds Big Bang

What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
-- seed

What is the age of your plants?
-- they were planted on 6th of march. Thats 20 days today.

How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now?
-- 14 days

How Tall are the plants?
-- the highest one is 15 cm tall (that's 5.9 in)

What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
-- vegetative

What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
-- nothing in particular yet

What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
-- height: 18cm(7.1 in), diameter: 22cm(8.7 in)

What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
--BioBizz Allmix. The declaration states that the soil mixture contains: Peat moss, spaghnum peat, worm castings, perlite, Pre-mix

What Nutrient's are you using?
-- Hesi SuperVit

How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
-- one drop of Hesi SuperVit per 4 liters of water

How often are you feeding?
-- i'm not feeding them yet with anything else than Hesi SuperVit.

If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?
-- not folowering yet

What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)

What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
-- don't know

What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
-- the declaration of soil mix states: 6.2 - 6.6

What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen?

How often are you watering?
-- i first watered the plants on 12th march. Then on 22th march and i watered them today. (26th march)

When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding?

What size bulb are you using?
--150w hps

What is the distance to the canopy?
--7 cm (2.8 in)now. I recently increased the distance from cool tube from 5 to 7 cm

What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity)
-- i'm not sure. As you can see from the pictures i have an open jar filled with water inside the cabinet

What is the canopy temperature?
--
32°C (90 F)

What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range)
-- 26 to 31°C (78.8 to 87.8 F)

What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
-- don't know

Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ?
-- 4 passive 5cm(1.97 in) diamater intakes, and one 12(4.73 in) cm pc fan for exhaust. I've made custom carbon scrubber. It was efficient enough while they were smaller, now i'll have to add some more carbon :) Therefore i'll have to do something with that exhaust fan. Obviously one 12 cm pc fan hasn't got enough pressure.

Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
-- as you can see from the picture, i have two 8cm fans mounted on the each side of the cool tube. They're not blowing directly, but over the canopy.

Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
-- definetly now wet.

Is your water HARD or SOFT?
-- not sure about that.

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
-- tap water. I leave the water in plastic bottles.

Are you using water from a water softener?
-- no

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
-- no

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
-- no

Are plant's infected with pest's?

-- no

Thank you very much for your help

Best regards,

It is very important have a pH tester and pH all your water and nutes so I would see that as your first problem. When you pH your water and nutes in soil, you have to pH it to 6.5 - 6.7 because you start getting lockouts at 6.4 and below. The second problem that I see is that if you always keep your soil wet, then that is your second problem. Your temps are a little on the high side too.

No no, i've made a typo about soil moisutre.

I was trying to type 'definetly NOT wet'. As you can see i have watered them only 3 times in 20 days. That's because the soil mix is good at keeping the moisture :)

I agree with you about temperatures and i'm going to get me a ph tester.

If you watered them 3 times in 20 days then that means that they are sitting in way too much water for the size that they are at and that is a problem.

Oh i see!
And i thought watering them today was a good idea :\

Is there any way i can 'undo' that action :D

Thanks for you help, i really appreciate it!

Put a fan in to blow the medium and hopefully you can dry them out faster for now but plants like that I'd be watering about 16-24 tablespoons. After you water your plants that small, you want the medium to dry out in no more than 3 days or so. You want the roots to stretch out and look for the water.

I'll try that.

I have one more question about exhaust fan. Should it be active all the time? Or should it be active only when the light is on ?

It should be active for how ever long you need it to be on to control your heat and humidity.
