Bubbling quality buds?

Simple question: can I make bubble hash from whole quality bud?

I am a MM patient struggling to stay legal. The law in my home says that I can have 12 plants, and 2.5 Oz of smokable material--hash or bud is counted the same. 1g = 1g. So, as you can see, making hash out of entire plants, quality bud and all, is a good option to try to remain legal.

Any thoughts? How much should I chop the bud? Should I cure first, or fresh freeze? Your thoughts are appreciated.

I like where you are going with this and you will get some great hash. Problem is, you would be curing 6 or so ozs at a time to get about 1 oz of hash. So you would have that time period where you had the 6 oz. Now you could argue that you didn't have your smokable material yet and that smoking hash is healthier since you just have clean resins...there's a lot you could say. On the other hand if you grow about 2.5 dry ozs at a time this is the perfect plan.

I say don't worry so much about it. Just cure your buds completely and make your hash, then store it away. If you want hash, that's what it takes, lots of weed.

if your in california and a patient then look into the kelly decision, and as for using buds to make hash, it makes some of the best hash ive ever had but in the end it all depends on the person and if you want to be smoking hash all day or would you rather puff joints all day, tolerance is a big factor too, but its all up to you good luck in your hash making

Thanks for the responses. I'm not in Cali. Where I live, even though the voters approved MM, the po-po aren't necessarily in agreement with the will of the people on this--they've popped a few honest people who have slipped up already. It's not that dramatic, but I need to keep my head down just the same.

Anyhoo--is the consensus that whole bud needs to be cured before being water extracted? Should I rough chop?

The bud doesn't need to be cured for bubble bags. Hell, it doesn't even need to be dry. Just chop the buds and sugar leaves up as well as you can without damaging lots of trichs. A sharp pair of scissors would probably work ok. Then freeze it all.

Its ready for extraction. You will want to use lots of jagged ice and do at least 2 runs to get as many of the nestled trichs off as possible.

That trimmer isn't needed, its for something different.

The bags on that site are pretty overpriced too. Shop around and check out Ebay.

^^^that is for trimming buds whole buds off the plants, not what you're intending to do.

It's very difficult to stay legal in weight. When I grow my 6 plants I always get more bud then what is legally allowed. I have to find ways to get rid of it. I have to take pounds to friends homes. I make allot of oil/hash I can store these for a very long time.

For your sake I would still read about the kelly decision in cali, it should adhere to any MMJ state soon enough. no matter what the local PD say or do, soon enough they will have to stop harassing MMJ people because they are state officials and have to follow state law, it was like that around here where I lived but over past few years cops now dont hassel you if you have a proper MMJ paperwork and usually they dont care about limits unless you are blaintantly growing and selling for profit...time for change!

and yes cut up your buds before mixing them maybe about the size of a nickel or dime, and its entirely up to you if you want to dry and cure the weed before hand, in your situation since you are worried about weight sitting around you can freeze your fresh cut buds and then mix them once completely frozen, this usually produces a better quality product because the gland heads are extra brittle and the plant matter although frozen is not dry enough to crumble and contaminate your hash

Thanks again kushkommander. I've pretty much got my mind set on extracting some fresh frozen buds.

As for the legal situation, it's kind of complicated here. Fact is, the state officials really don't have to follow the will of the people. If they don't, nobody can really force them. Certainly not our state's Republican Attorney General.

Am I reading you right? Givin' away pounds and still keeping yourself stoned...from 6 plants? No snark--I've got a LOT to learn!

Back to the thoughts about about having 6 ounces and then once doing hash only having a zip or so. If you really think about it, you really only ever had that 1 ounce of actual material to begin with BUT with a ton of leaf material weighing it down. Look at it that way and it really wouldn't make you look at it as a loss.

I am going to be doing only hash in my next runs myself. Just going to be running a ton of seeds and work on my crosses and only have hash to enjoy. Pretty stoked actually and the less leaf material in my pipe the better even if it "looks" like less medicine.

I have to wonder if some portion of the sensation of being high (e.g. "couchlock" and "body buzz") may have to do with chemicals that are in the bud itself, and not captured in the extraction process?

Just a theory.
