Hey everyone in just doing some changes to my box and had a question.

How effective would this setup be vs no fan blowing on the light and or does anyone have experience cooling light this way?
Its a 250w HPS by the way.

Thanks for your time.:tiphat:

pissing in the wind my friend.

Radiant heat still builds even with an air cooled fixture, and that is talking a strong fan exhausting an enclosure inches from the lamp itself. I do not see that axial fan doing much good to be quite honest. Have you looked into a bake-a-round for a diy cool tube? I mentioned this on someone else thread moments ago, eerie! lol

Certainly better than no fan at all.

It might just be me but wow that reflector looks seriously concave, at least with the fan you can get rid of heat spots.

I haven't used a 250 hps but I imagine the heat output from it is quite minimal.

Without an exhaust, won't that just circulate the heat around the tent? It will cool the area around the bulb somewhat, but won't lower the overall temp in the tent at all.

i used to do the same thing before i got a/c hoods. It's nothing to do with ventilating the area, but i found i was able to get the bulb closer to the plants with a computer fan blowing on it than with no computer fan. I had a inline fan extracting through a carbon filter of course.

Thanks a lot for the info sounds like my setup is exactly the same as your old one.
