hey guys
thought ide throw this one at you incase you can help. I have a predominately sativa strain that ide like to grow again as it is a massive yeilder, the problem is last time i grew it it was soo fluffy i could see light through a 3 inch round dried but. manicuring could only go to buds about 4 inches long as any smaller and the weed wouldnt have even resembles a bud.
what im hoping is that someone knows a way to increase its bag apiel maybe rolling the buds denser? or if anyone knows of an additive to make it thicker or hold its shape through drying?
any help would be muchly appreciated.
cheers guys

if it weighs what it weighs, and is potent, you shouldn't have to manipulate a thing.
hell most scrubs i know would rather get a sack that had "more" in it anyways,
not like they can weigh by sight or feel. scrubs!

Do you know what the return button does. Clean your post up a little bro make it easier for people to read!

From what i understand of what you typed (which is not much) you want your bud to be denser?

In order to do that you need to perfect your environment, watering and nutes, light intensity, air circulation and ventilation, and oxygen too the roots.

Basically, you need experience you know that thing you don`t get till you need it!

Good luck bro you`ll get there

hint: check out a PK booster into your nutrient regiment, isugest pure flowers or hydroplex

gently rolling the buds together and laying them on/in something with 'slots' to hold the bud together during drying...?

If you're growing sativas it's the nature of the genetics, but brighter light is a key factor in bud density. Once it's grown it's done, you can't do anything to it but harm after that.

I'd stick to indicas and indica-dominant hybrids if you're selling weed, purples tend to sell the best in my neck of the woods just for the color. Cold night temps towards the end of flower seem to help buds frost up too.

Bag APPEAL

And the way to get denser buds is to get a higher powered light. Some strains are just naturally airy so that could be it too

Do the same thing as most commercial growers, don't dry it all the way and then vaccum seal it all in a big bag so that the weight squishes them together...

Yuck. I've found that vacuum sealing weed basically prevents curing, if it's fresh when it went it it's exactly the same when it comes out.

i once had friends that complained about my airy sativa buds. i took ziplock freezer bags and put a 1/4 pound each and stuck it under my mattress. slept on it for 2 days . they came over after and loved the new buds i had got. go figure..... !!!!!!

Fuckin hilarious! I've had the same problems before with my haze bottom line is it doesn't matter as long as the buds good

well ya know what they say only good bud comes from hydro...at least that is what my nimrod brother-in-law tried to feed me...I about puked I was laughing so hard...thats when I pulled out my JTR haze pheno, soil grown herb and it began to whoop his ass in a short time.... I then pulled out some indie based buds and they were rock hard and the fuck right off the bat said they were hydro grown, once again the moron showed his true colors.

in other words most fucks out there that have never grown weed, knows no better then what they have been told or heard.

But on the bag appeal...take your buds put them in a bag and compress the buds ever so slightly...if they are bone dry they will crumble, so be sure to hydrate them just a touch before doing this or it will destroy the buds...now this will degrade the buds a little, just don't compress the stuff you keep for you as we both know the real deal don't we:wave:.

Peace

thanks for all the input guys. as far as environment goes its pretty dialed in, me and my mates have tried this strain outdoors (which yeilded 1 and a half pound on the biggest plant) and in hydro (6 ounces in 2 sq feet) but always comes out fluffy as bugery. have tried with 1000 watts and 400 watts and no diff. used different flower enhansers, everything from low to excessive air flow ect. i had pretty much come to the conclusion that the only way to improve its appiel is to manipulate the bud after harvest.
the reason appiel is important is that down where i live, the people who buy bulk dont smoke and therefore judge its quality on the look of it.
one thing i am curious about though is if i use a plant growth regulator part way through flowering will that help to dense out the resulting buds???
any help appreciated
cheers

I've heard bushmaster will DRAMATICLY reduce or stop strech all together, wich should give you a denser finished product. I haven't tried it myself so ..........

I agree, F*** 'bag appeal'! Furthermore, I think some of the loose budded hazey sativa types benifit from less-than-close manicuring, especially if they're extremely potent. It seems to me that there is a lot of flavor in those interfloral leaflets, and I notice a stronger, sweeter 'funk' left in the air after smoking buds with those leafs left in. We have both a Blue Dream cut and an Island Sweet Skunk cut that, I think smoke better when manicured less closely than is commonly done. The BD doesn't look too scruffy when manicured loosely, but the ISS looks terrible! Worst bag appeal you've ever seen, but otherwise a wonderful cut.

Ive put my bud into baggies and roll them tightly not crushing 2 much and this seems to improve bag appeal. It makes some of the buds mold together (maybe mold was a bad word 2 use) do thios for the last stage of your cure instead of leaving it in jars when weed is still a little damp not wet though, maybe after hang drying for 3-4 days or so. Buds look more commercially correct. I dont know about sleeping on 1/4 pound or so but Im sure that will compress the bud though. Peace and overgrow the world.

An old cali technique is to but the buds in a giant turkey cooking cellophane bag when the leaves are just a bit crispy but still has moisture on the inside and stems. Only fill the bag about half way or less. Tie the bag closed and the next day the buds will have equalized the moisture so they are soft but not too damp. Twist the bag to compress the weed into one of the corners of the bag, squeezing out all the empty air space. Open the bag every day to exchange air and repeat the compressing until it is dried and cured.
